Thank you for your videos. They have helped me immensely since I started trying to tune my ZR1 a couple of weeks after I realized no one will care about the tune as much as I will.

I can’t express how much this channel is helping me out. My starting point is I understanding the theory of tuning but have zero hands on with writing tunes. I’m still going to pay for one from goat rope but it’s going to help me understand it more (and not catastrophically destroy my engine lol).

Something I had some issues with was I would get idle and tip in good. Then go up to red line some and when I would slowly lift it was making my tune fat at the bottom. So I tuned the MAF in 3 sections only pasting the section I wanted to tune at that time and it got me way closer to where I wanted to be then pasting it all every time.

Thanks for all the information on your videos! I really appreciate it! I used to use DHP tuners years ago but stopped when I sold my grand prix's. I never used a wideband and kind of regret it. Thanks for all the detailed videos and tutorials, it brought my confidence back up enough to try tuning my gto after I cam swapped it!

Awesome video, finally someone with knowledge helping people out! I'm about to start making some videos on diesel tuning for guys, I will say the diesel world is very quite about tuning in general, and i had a very hard time finding any sort of help. So thanks for actually showing guys how to tune and tune properly.

I like how slow your wide band reads mine is crazy fast i'm sure its better for the log but yours makes it easier to see the number.
@fasnuf
@fasnuf 4 года назад
I have the same issue so I bought another wideband. The fast reading one is the AEM 30-4110 so I got an AEM 30-0334 that plugs into the OBDII and its more like his. I think it's just a firmware thing in the gauge, like a built in smoothing or something.
@1clnsdime1

@@fasnuf I may have to look into that and just keep mine for logging purposes. Thanks for the info.

Hey Kyle, great videos man, keep up the great work for us novice tuners out here trying to learn. Quick question about copying the log data to adjust parameters in the editor. At what point in the log run do you stop it and copy the data? I was logging today and noticed the data is different during different times during the log. So at what stage do you copy? Thanks.

How does DFCO affect your logging? If you turn it off wouldn't it be rich as you lift off the throttle? Or if you leave it on it'll be lean? I assumed the PCM factored DFCO that into calculating the STFT and LTFT? The wideband wouldn't know when it's on or off or when you lift your foot..

Hi Goat Rope, I'm a new subscriber and enjoying the content. I'm teaching myself how to tune. Done spending money on Dyno tunes that doesn't always result in the outcome I'm looking for. I have a question that no one can seem to answer... I bricked an e40 ecm in my 2006 GTO, I have purchased another ecm from a friend out of a running car. My question is... does the car need to be taken to the dealership to have the new ecm flashed to the car?
@GoatRopeGarage
@GoatRopeGarage 5 лет назад
Kevin, it's ecm specific, check the HP Tuners forum, you should be able to find the answer there for the E40.

Please respond to this I bought a aem 30-0300 like you suggested and am logging it with serial but when I start scanning it will only log the wideband if I stop logging unplug the serial from computer then start logging again it will log everything else so basically it only scans wideband but nothing else but if I unplug it it will scan and log everything else I’m completely confused

Actually you mentioned something about having the MIL light to enable when you've maxed out MAF. Would you mind explaining this. Sounds like a good feature to use. I'm interested on hearing about this...
@GoatRopeGarage
@GoatRopeGarage 5 лет назад
The P0103 DTC can be changed to light up the mil on first error, is usually set on second error. It's just a positive response that let's you know that you're not running on the MAF. There is also a PID on later generations you can log that will tell you what is in control but I can't remember the name off the top of my head. I'll post another reply if I think of it.

Love your vids! I have 00 z28 and was setting up for MAF tuning, as per your video, made an afr err graph but in this video you are looking at a MAF err graph. Does that have to do with Lambda vs AFR? Sorry, new to this but ambitious and fast learner. Thank you
@GoatRopeGarage
@GoatRopeGarage 4 года назад
No, MAF is one of the ways we calculate air, when we are doing AFR or EQ error we are looking at what our airflow error is, people call it tuning fuel but the fuel it's a constant, the airflow is the variable that has to be dialed in.

What all would primarily need to be changed if I upgrade from stock supercharger at near same boost? I have a 16 Z06 and considering a Magnuson 2300 over the stock 1740. I like to use the AEM gauge with the OBD pass through port and add it to the pid list.
@GoatRopeGarage
@GoatRopeGarage 5 лет назад
You'll have to do the full airflow tuning then a little torque table adjustment.

I have a question, as of recently on my 99 Camaro my wideband is reading abnormally rich when at WOT and in PE, iv just about convinced myself it's a faulty o2 for the gauge but was curious if ya have a way I can verify the wideband is indeed reading correct or incorrect. Awesome content man, thanks!
@GoatRopeGarage
@GoatRopeGarage 5 лет назад
That's a tough one since you can't compare it back to the narrowband sensors like you can when cruising. I'd probably do and open air cal and see if it continues to read rich.

How do you get high numbers with a boosted vehicle reliably? I have to mash the pedal to engage the supercharger on the CTS-V. So would it be a bunch of runs smooth to WOT with no boost? Then mash to get the higher end?

I am seriously considering hp tuners. I have efilive but the main pid for tuning E92.APCYL_DMA is not supported so have to do some fancy calc pids shit that i do not understand. Does hp tuners log this info without a problem? I had hp tuners years ago but swapped to efilive when i went diesel but now i have a 2017 camaro i wanna tune

Hey question on MAF tuning/scaling? I'm using a different software since I'm JDM, my MAF sensor calibration uses voltage and lb/min for the adjustment. Any difference from how you are showing in these videos? Getting ready to put a intake on that was throwing lean code before I had the software to tune. Happy Thanksgiving BTW. Following your Instagram, I'm @rotary4life. Keep these videos coming!

Hey bro. Did some logging for MAF today. Shitty day but did hit around 7700 hz. But 2 things happened or I noticed. 1) my idle hz(32-3500hz) stayed like 20% lean after multiply by half 4 times. Thinking it's either my idle air flow or etc scalar. Thoughts? 2) should we be disabling PE when logging?
@GoatRopeGarage
@GoatRopeGarage 4 года назад
Hmm, not sure what is up with the first. But if you're using a wideband you can tune with PE on
@Anvil_tbss
@Anvil_tbss 4 года назад
@@GoatRopeGarage AEM 0300. I was just curious about the PE. Going back through tune changes, my idle airflow has been changed and my throttle body has been changed. So I'm going to play with scalar and see. Then maybe idle airflow. You can probably see it in the tune I sent
