Making it look easy there mate. Well done 👍🏻 The only mobility I do is warm up dynamic stretches and some static stretches after the run.
@StevoRuns

Cheers Mark. I was blowing out of my arse after i turned the camera off 😂. Dynamic stretches are the way forward before you go out! It’s the ones i tried on RU-vid that showed my true stiffness haha

It’s interesting with my MAF training, because as I stopped looking at my watch it was like I immediately got better at staying under my MAF hr. Granted, I did strict MAF for over a year so I think that may have helped with aerobic base…Great work!

That is interesting Kevin! Maybe you felt like the pressures off and just relaxed more? I’ll have to give that a try sometime. Thanks for writing!

Congrats on the progress, I might see you at Oxford as I’m doing the half but your much faster than me so you’ll probably be finished way before me.

Some nice data in there Stevo .Since I've been using fatmaxxer and if it's accurate what I am realising is my Maf at the start of a run is different from the end of the run and is also different on different days depending how im eating fasting etc.eg At the start of a run my Maf is 115bpm and by the 50min mark it can be 140+ and I always get a negative split.It explains why the pros always do acceleration runs on the long runs.Over the years doing Maf I've been doing the start too fast and the end of the runs too slow .If I was you I'd just go by feel training for your races . Especially the long runs if you've done them too fast you'll feel it .Keep on keeping on 😀

Interesting Leo. Man i like the sound of fatmaxxer but I can’t get it at the minute. Interesting that your maf changes later on. It sometimes takes me 3 or 4 miles for me to really settle down so I’d imagine my readings would be similar to yours. Going by feel for the long runs is a good idea as my training plan starts next week and it included extra harder workouts so the longer ones need to be easy. Thanks again for your imput

@@StevoRuns Yes Stevo ,I'm just experimenting at the moment but it seems the slower I start the faster I can finish ,so warm up is really important for fat burning .My 16 yr old daughter tried it out and she was in the zone right up to 190bpm!!.Kids can go by feel and at 190 she was blowing up but still in fat burning zone,she felt comfortable at 165 and below , roughly what Maffetone said .Good luck with the training and keep getting the miles in.A good way to judge is by walking up stairs .If you are at a pace of an 80yr old it's an easy day tomorrow 😁

Nice video. thanks for sharing. Talking while running, especially while making a video, is surprisingly challenging isn't it.

Yes it definitely makes an easy run much harder!

Leg extensions and Leg presses will help with your leg strength. Looking good for your marathon.

Thanks Peter! Time to up the game a bit on the strength training, especially the legs. Cheers

Great video Stevo and your training is going very well. I have tried MAF training, but cannot get it to work for me. 5k = 6:10 pace at 152HR and then the next run 5m = 7:30 pace at 148HR. Not sure why! Keep up the good work!
@StevoRuns
@StevoRuns 3 года назад
Thanks Michael! That’s strange… I know it changes slightly with how you’ve slept, weather etc but that’s a too bigger swing! I’d love to go at 6.10 pace at 152! Do you wear a chest strap or is through your watch? It looks like you’re doing great anyway with what your doing so no need for MAF to be fair.
@michaelsanderson7328
@michaelsanderson7328 3 года назад
@@StevoRuns no not used chest strap for long time! Would you recommend one? Would my watch be that far out? Garmin forerunner 55.
@StevoRuns
@StevoRuns 3 года назад
It depends really, if you’re happy running by feel and getting results then maybe no need. But, if you wanted to make sure you’re not over doing some runs and if you ever went back to MAF or other HR training then I would definitely recommend a chest strap. The reason I asked is because I friend I run with uses just his Garmin without a strap and when he runs at 7 min mile pace it hangs around 140s and when he runs at 9 min mile pace it goes up to 170s, it sounded like yours but more extreme. The wrist reader has its limitations that’s all. Not everyone is mad on HR stats though so it depends what you want from it really. Cheers

I find compression calf leggings brilliant for recovery. During runs they make me too hot and negligible effect.

Mate, those paces changes since March are impressive! Great work. Best of luck with all the races you’ve got lined up, which marathon is it that you are doing?

Thanks a lot mate! I’m doing one called the mapledurham trails in Reading as there’s not much going on near me in Oxford at the minute. Can’t wait! How was your Brighton marathon? Is it hard? Well done on that 👍🏼

@@StevoRuns that sounds great, your training looks like you’ll smash it. Good luck for it :) thanks- it was a good course in my opinion, some elevation but not too bad however I’ve got no point of comparison. Would recommend it though, well organised and great support on the course. I’m looking for my next one already though, definitely been bitten by the bug

Good man! Did you recover well? I’m not sure what to expect after mine really, it’s completely new to me. I’m worried my body won’t cope after 20 or so!

@@StevoRuns so sorry I missed this response mate. Yeah recovery was great, much better than expected and was back out running three days after. From what I can see you’re in much better shape than me, you’ll be fine after twenty just remember to keep taking fluid and energy on board and you’ll be grand. I had the best banana of my life at mile 17 which helped me out 😂
