nope he played it like an idiot but his idiocy worked out. The blur save was a gimme. Second round he has a confirmed cop but doesn't save and saves himself instead when there was no way D1 was getting targeted. Then after that they all mentioned assuming that the medic had to have saved the cop so he realized he needed to save the cop this time and that he screwed up the previous round lol.
Mango's likability is his strongest ability no question. But if you notice how HungyBox prefaced his logic (which was actually avery fair and convincing logical argument), it becomes easier to determine that HBox is indeed mafia. He prefaces his logic with "Don't just side with Mango 'cause he's Mango. Listen to logic for once in your life." Here, he is speaking in rhetoric, meaning his words are convincing but lack meaning ultimately. Hard to notice, but how can you tell? Well, try and think how many people there actually voted for Mango just because he's Mango. Maybe a couple. But just by observing the energy of the room, how many people there do you think started to second guess themselves after HungryBox accused them of siding with Mango for the sake of siding with Mango? I think most of them. Secondly, HBox did what most mafia do as he attempted to belittle his accusers. "...for once in your life." Phrases and keywords like this ("obviously," "of course," etc.) during pleas are used to manipulate people by tapping into their egos. The fear of being inferior to others' intelligence will often supersede the drive to think for oneself or the trust one has in their own thoughts. HBox not only used the power of suggestion to plant seeds of doubt, but he also attempted to belittle the room to help grow those seeds. Of course, claiming cop so late made it difficult for these tactics to work in his favor.
Urameshi Sama that was actually the only thing he could do. if he claimed he was just town, it wouldn't make sense for mango to be going after him so strong, even if mango was mafia. if he claimed he was cop and he didn't investigate mango and mango was just trying to kill him to be funny, it still wouldn't make sense that mango got up and asked bryan about the rules. there was actually nothing else hbox could've done, he was just a little too hesitant to claim cop
What you wrote is straight up out of an anime monologue where they zoom in on a dudes face and they have that cocky smile. But seriously, that was well written and easy to understand haha.
One thing Hbox could've done instead of jumping the gun and saying he's cop, is saying that (what he already did) people are listening to Mang0, because he's Mang0 and secondly, he could've said that Mang0 is just doing it because it'd be funny or because he doesn't like HBox. I've heard their relationship got better over the years, but years ago it was super clear that Mang0 despises HBox (or at the very least his playstyle, of course I have no clue how they behaved behind the scenes).
Well maybe they read to far. You can't save someone twice, so maybe they thought that medic would save Mango and would kill him the next night. But D1 saved it and then was able to save him on the next round instead.

+Frank Wang Also saying Mango was town would help keep him alive because they wouldn't have the insurance of a mafia kill day 2 with killing Mango. By providing no mafia reads it would have made it important to kill the right person.
no he should have never said he analyzed mang0 at all he should have said he analyzed blur whom is innocent. would have won him favor with the loudest voice against him/leader of the interrogation and mixes up the town because he mad it seem like an obvious lie when he said he was the cop but then did a seemingly random pick by saying he analyzed blur rather than the obvious answer, mang0. he panicked like a dumb ass right away
here's how hbox plays this: "mang0's mafia. if the cop doesn't come forward, it's a free kill on someone he knows isn't mafia. if the cop does come forward, then he can accuse that person of also being mafia and now knows who the cop is."
Well the mistake hbox made was saying he checked mango when he should have just said another fellow maf as inno, then said mango is sus because im the real cop
15:08 - it doesn't look like much, but watch it at 0.25 playing speed. Did Mango peak through his hair and see Lovage with his head up, motioning with his arms? Also, when Mango raised his head, his focus was immediately on Lovage. Possible he could have already had him in mind to check that round. Just some herb-fueled speculation. After further investigation, Lovage was basically signaling with his feet that he was the last mafia member. Mango probably read that as him giving up.
I played this game without looking at the screen and man.. HBox's story sounded so convincing it's palpable. If it weren't Mang0 that he was up against he probably would've gotten away with it too.
He made a few mistakes, hesitating, basically saying he wasn't cop and someone else is and then claiming cop after no other mafia did. saying he checked mango and being so uncalm
Mango wouldn't cheat He's the guy who refuses to chain grab, refuses to edge guard with Mario's cape, he rather lose with pride than win playing like a bitch.
