Yeah I honestly have a hard time believing that part, I've seen loads of interviews, news clips and a couple documentaries with Michael Franzese in it and I don't recall him ever saying his dad put a hit on him. He did say his dad had words with him and they hadn't talked for some time but they got close again and his dad always looked out for him whether he agreed with him or not. It's possible that I'm wrong but I really don't think so.

A long time before he left the mob, he was accused of defrauding the family because he was allegedly not 'just making $8 million' at the time but 'billions.' He was led into a room and the moment he realized he was going to be interrogated by his family's top bosses, he didn't know whether he was getting out alive. During the interrogation, his own father did not stand up to defend him but more or less said, if my son did this, he should be punished. This betrayal by his own father must have been Michael's first incling that he should get out.

He didn’t put a hit out on him but he wasn’t against it. The boss Carmine Persico put a hit on Mikey and his dad pretty much was okay with it because there’s really nothing he could do.

This pronunciation is closer to the Italian original. I guess he says Franz-sees because he has heard it pronounced this way all his life (it's more effortless for an English speaker I guess) and embraced it.. But the original Italian family name is pronounced more or less like in this video.
