I really don`t understand why everybody frames abortion as "a womens issue". I mean do these men want to become fathers at twenty or have children out there that they have to pay child support to? The thing that makes me so angry is the implication that as a childless woman with three cats, I don't care about the future. I'm an environmental educator who works with kids k through 3rd grade, and i care deeply about the world they will inherit. I know grandparents who think climate change is a scam and that our water and air are clean enough. I don't see these folks being more concerned, more invested in the future and they have reproduced!

I am so proud of my republican voting husband who this year, will be voting for women's rights. His girlfriend and he did everything right in high school. He bought the rubbers, she was on the pill for her "periods". BUT.....conseption happened and without legal abortions that his girlfriend was able to access, my husband and I would not have met, married, and chose to have children. So proud that he loves his daughter and sons and wants them to have equal rights, right down the line because women's rights ARE men's rights also.

After 2016 I can no longer remain as naive as I had been about the number of people in this country with truly hateful views. In my day, it was called affirmative action. When my co-worker implied that I got into U-M because I was black, I informed her that I earned a full 4-year scholarship. It was a scholarship set up by the governor of our state. For all who scored high on their ACT. "Didn't you take the ACT, Kathy?" She walked away in shame. To say there is something bad about being a DEI hire is to deny the reality that minorities and women are discriminated against because of their race and gender. If that weren't the case then there would be proportional representative across every income, neighborhood, job and elected position. If they want the laws they had in Romania during Nicolae Ceaușescu's time, they need to look at how badly things went wrong. Families who couldn't have abortions ended up giving up babies to horrific orphanages because they couldn't afford to care for them. They wanted more kids in families, but they didn't work to make families be able to *afford* those babies. They also thought it would free up more babies for adoption, which didn't happen either. It was a mess that I hope *never* happens again!

We never learn from mistakes. Romania, as a result of those policies the country ended up with thousands and thousands of abandoned orphans suffering from reactive attachment disorder. RAD happened because there wasn’t the staff needed to even pick all the babies and children up, let alone hold them while they are fed, interact or play with them.
