Il grande soprano Magda Olivero dimostra nel 2006 le sue straordinarie capacità canore cantando, come era solita fare ogni anno a Ferragosto, nella Chiesa di Solda durante la celebrazione della S. Messa. I due brani, nei quali viene accompagnata all'organo da Marco Montanari, sono "Ave Maria" di R. Leoncavallo e "Panis Angelicus" di C. Franck

How is this remotely possible. I see her. I hear her, but yet my mind refuses to believe what I'm seeing an hearing. She is an incredible singer at ANY age, but at 96 she is in a class all her own.

It is almost impossible how she managed to keep the voice and sing so amazingly, with clean intonation and speech, full of emotion as always she did in 96! I am felling on my knees in front of her! ❤️ Best of the best!

I see it, I listen it, but something inside of me can't still believe it. 96 years old and such fiati, such tone stability, such strong diaphragma at her superior age! And she still allows herself to smile of pleasure, masterfully modulate the very long prhases at that very slow tempi! DIVINE MAGDA OLIVERO!!!

La prima volta che ho ascoltato dal viso la Sig.ra Olivero avevo 16 anni e da quel momento mi è cambiato tutto nel mondo della tecnica.... mi ha dato suggerimenti ed insegnamenti che tutt'oggi metto in pratica e passo ai miei allievi.... Beautiful. Magda Olivero was a Legend and her amazing vitality, will and pure love of her Art belie her years and tiny frame in this clip. This great Soprano was, after an audition at the start of her career, judged thus: " She possesses neither voice, musicality nor personality!...She should look for another profession". Undeterred after such a crushing verdict, Magda Olivero did not lose heart and persevered, conquering the operatic world, also fitting in a spectacular comeback after a decade of married life. This performance brings tears to my eyes. Grazie, Magda Olivero...you are a life affirming joy!

Wow! If/when I become a voice teacher my students will listen to this. She starts with light onset’s consistently, which is how I believe she is still singing (light onset’s come with good breath support)

La sentii cantare proprio a Solda in una vacanza nel 2003 e mi impressionò già allora per la sicurezza e la padronanza del suo canto nonostante i 93 anni di età. Disse che sarebbe stata l'ultima volta, ma fortunatamente non è andata così. Grande interprete ed insegnante.
