AC Family, WARNING: DO NOT WATCH WHILE EATING! I screamed, cried, and smiled all while creating this video. Hope you enjoy it! Hope you remember to LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE, & SUBSCRIBE (hit the BELL ICON and Select ALL) if you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching, guys! Ant Love Forever! ❤ So do you think we did the right thing to the queen?
Imagine getting trapped inside of another species, so you ate their insides to survive and get out, only to find out that you're stuck inside a plastic tube
One of my first ant queens suffered from this fate. I brought it downstairs during a family dinner and announced it to the entire room. Dinner was great.
i think she felt the cold of the freezer seeping out before being placed in there. honestly if i was in the queens position i'd say end me quickly too.
Well I mean if I physically look at a piece of disgusting or dirty substance I may just vomit instantly but a MAGGOT that is TOO FAR I may have slightly trained my gag reflex to not be so sensitive BUT I CANT DO THAT
I enjoyed my bowl of clam chowder. Eating while watching horse things doesn’t bother me. What did bother me is I’m heavily pregnant and days away from having this baby and as the maggots started emerging, this little one decided it was the perfect time to start exercising inside me. Feeling something move inside you while watching maggots move inside a dead ant is not pleasant.
This information is pretty accurate, except that the phorids lay their eggs INTO the body of the ant, not ON the exoskeleton. The females of the flies have sharp, piercing egg-layers that can pierce the membrane between the hard sclerites of the ant. The species of fly is called Trucidophora camponoti.
@@SeekerGoldstone generally we call the entirety of segments 7-10 the ovipositor. I was referring to the stylet or aculeus, which is the consolidated segments 8-10. See the Manual of Nearctic Diptera for terms.
@@brianbrown3150 Lol I dont know enough about entomology to speak on that but I do know enough about etymology to know that they arent called egg-layers :p
Parasites are my biggest fear... You best feel special that I managed to endure the whole video for the love of you and my ant love forever which I have because of you. Thank you for not making her suffer!
@@twiztidfreekshow199 anyways any deworming tablet will work gives them too much calcium which makes them paralyzed easy as that and it gets out naturally. Thank God we are living in modern medicine practice not the middle ages.
That POOR QUEEN! How she SUFFERED! I cannot imagine dying in this manner. Such an awful loss. Thank you for being so kind to the other queen. I ADORE this channel and you!!
@@andreak.4375 Me, too! Can you imagine, waiting to lay your eggs, only to be EATEN ALIVE from the inside out!? Gave me NIGHTMARES! Seeing those maggots emerge from her gaster was overwhelming to see. Can't imagine EXPERIENCING it! Our Queen will rule, again!!
@@moe3329 To have SYMPATHY for a suffering creature, makes me a 'weirdo'? Actually, those without this ability are weird! Even could be considered sociopathic. Perhaps some, self examination would be beneficial, before judging others!(?)
It's weird isn't it???!? This man is very skilled at grabbing our attention and coaxing out our respect and caring for an insect which most normally just mindlessly stomp on without a second thought!! When the humongous fire ant colony died out, it really upset me!!! Which gave me very conflicting thoughts, when I was almost 5, I fell into a pit in the sand which happened to be a fire ant colony, an ENORMOUS ONE TOO!!!!! If my mom wasn't right there and able to react the way she did by pulling me out and quickly running to wash them off, I would have easily been killed by hundreds of thousands of these little gals!!!!
@@jeffffro7674 For real! AC is really charismatic in his narration skills and he's just so knowledgeable. Plus his voice is so pleasant I'm usually not fond of insects, arachnids and arthropods at all but when I watch his videos, I feel empathic with these creatures
@@jeffffro7674 you probably wouldn't have died unless your allergic to them I mean I would assume you enough common sense when you were 5 to get out of the ant pile you fell on
@@oscarjrvelasquez8520 that was the problem, it was in sand, I got too curious and too close, the sand gave way and I went about 4 to 5 feet down!!! A tiny ant can come and go as they please, I was too heavy to climb out without just pulling sand down in. I couldn't even do that cause I looked like a guy with a bee beard, except covering my entire body! I'm pretty sure that a couple million stings and bites would have done the job to off me!
Anyone else notice how she curled up into a ball right before she was put into the freezer, like as if she was accepting her fate and knew what was coming... 🥺 9:15
They're very important to the environment though!! They're very efficient at breaking down tissues that no other creatures can safely consume. Disgusting, yes, but very important!

I never knew there was so much to learn about ants before watching some of your videos. Though I wouldn't yet consider myself a true ant lover, I am certainly more content examining them than exterminating them. Truly fascinating creatures that humans have more in common with than I would have ever imagined.
You can learn more about stuff like ants on RU-vid in a week than the average college could teach you in a whole year. YT is actually a great start for learning if that’s your goal
I love watching you with all your different ant spices and to be able to watch mother nature at her wonderful but sometimes gross but interesting nature that always fascinated me I can't wait to see more of your videos
just a random note but it’s so interesting how we’ve evolved that feeling of our “skin crawling” when we see things like maggots as a way of our brain keeping us away from decay, it’s like our brain putting its foot down like “no we’re not getting closer to that, now squiggle with fear” lol
AC answer of the week: Ant-decapitating flies belong to the genus Apocephalus. The Zombie fly also belongs to this genus. Crypt, or phorid flies also belong to this genus. :)
YAY YOU TALKED ABOUT THE ANT DECAPITATING FLY!!! I wrote you guys on Facebook about this years ago and I was told you guys were gonna do more research about it to see if it was real before talking about it in a video 😁
Let’s all pray for this unlucky queen ant that couldn’t make an ant colony and see her first worker ant but instead died because of the fate of some maggots
Species in the genus Apocephalis are members of the family Phoridae, and members of this family often are reterred to as Phorid Flies, hump-backed flies, or scuttle flies. There are approximately 4,000 species of Phorids. Btw in our house there's a lot of and black ant and most importantly (Leaf Cutter ants)
@@unigifki I don't know but do you feed you're queen ant water because they need fresh water or something oh and btw our house is covered with ants and leaf cutter ants sometimes i see really big queen ants inside of our house and we would let it go
Everyone pls don't ask me questions about ants because I've been trying to get the leaf cutter ants in a new house 🏠 and they keep escaping pls i need to get them to there new house and ofc we have queen ants and there ants are biting pls i need to get all of my ants into their new house
I’m not the squeamish sort, I love watching grizzly operations on RU-vid for instance, but parasites coming out of any living thing is at the top of my short no-fly list. I’m trying really hard to not acknowledge what I know is happening to that poor creature, 😱 because otherwise I would have nightmares about it for weeks. For those with stronger stomachs I wish you happy viewing. 😁 I need to go look at *lots* of pictures of happy baby animals now. 🤣
The type of flies belonging to the apocephalus genus is zombie flys, they take over the brains of other insects like ants, a little like the one in the video but not exactly that.
Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else. Gets me frustrated. Just admit that you love the videos I make, my dear nata
In the last week there, I had the Late August round of Nuptial flight. I work in my apartment building’s pool so there were thousands of reproductives in there. The pavement ants were being cooperative helping one another to stay afloat. But some of the large Yellow ants in their were fighting, and at least 3 of them that I noticed had their gaster removed so they could no longer lay eggs after I got the out. Nature is both beautiful and brutal.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim 14 queen ants, 8 cut the wings off (all of them startet to lay eggs) and 6 had the wings still attached , one died because of fungi and one had maggots so... maybe one of the 4 remaining antqueens had maggots to, but i don´t think so, it looks like he put the queen in the freezer for the shot and then recover her right after it :P
dang yes! one of my lasuis queen died becuase of maggots, but it was a big one, just one, and when it came out, her inside it pretty much empty, she died a few days later :( rip queen...
