Playing a full brawling style Falco like Mango does is obviously the best strategy against Falcon BUT it's really really hard, especially against Wizzrobe. Wizzrobe has such a strong punish game that you become more scared to go in without a scouting laser. "Scout" lasers is what I call those constant laser approaches. . Melee is such a fast game, especially with alot on the line, that its REALLY easy to get into the habit of resetting neutral whenever an interaction gets too hectic. I think alot Falco's get "laser campy" because it allows you to reset your cognition. It's very easy to get a little lost in the middle of a long scrum. Bad players will just panic downsmash or roll away. Mango makes it look easy but he's been rush down constant brawling for 16 years so he doesn't get flustered doing it. . The best players don't need time to mentally reset in response to getting hit. Mid level players take longer to let go of whatever they thought was gonna happen, readjust to the new situation, and start making decisions again. I think this skill is the most important with spacies and I also think it's one of the harder skills to get better at especially when you can just back off, laser, and think you're keeping the pressure on while really, you're not. . Also, it's easy for spectators to forget that "top player" in Melee is actually basically only the top 10 players. This isn't the NFL where the worst player on an NFL roster is still in the top .1% of all players world wide. There's more of a gap between Mango and Magi than there probably is between you and Magi. Melee has like 200 good players total and only about 20 great ones.
