My uncle got one of these and was so excited about it. Hes not a gadget or edc person at all and he couldnt wait to show me because i am so i came by that night to see. Sitting at the kitchen table he was trying to show me how the safety pin worked and in the blink of an eye it was out of the dining room across the kitchen and into the glass window on my grandma's oven door haha.

I’ve been a professional magician for over 60 years. I’ve used an appearing cane, which this is, for at least 50 years. Yes, if it opens into your face you will be cut. I had to go to the hospital over that. However it’s absolutely ridiculous to think this is any kind of a self defense tool.

I had one of these for a very long time and got pretty quick with it closing and opening it in flashy ways, also I remember you can fix when it splits like that by just over expanding the area and letting it snap back into place. but its probably easier said than done

It’s more like an expandable bo staff. Seems like something better suited to be a prop for magic shows than a defensive weapon. It’s so much harder to close than the ASP batons which you simply slam against a hard surface to close up.

Imagine if you made some kind of handle/container for it with additional safety for the pin, and when you pushed the button it'd launch a large nail or knife blade. Then you just dispose of the magic cane thing by pulling it out, inserting a new one and a new nail, and use them like cartridges.
