Nothing makes me feel that Christmas spirit like the image of a guy in a trench coat, fedora, and sunglasses staring at a little dying girl as she sleeps.

I honestly find the message of this movie really fucked up. It basically says, "you're a weenie if you feel negative emotions, you have to be happy all the time! If you're not, fake it for everyone around you!" There's way too much pressure on people to be happy all the time, and any deviation is automatically billed as depression and treated with pills. I'm not saying depression doesn't exist, believe me, but we stigmatize people when they feel frustrated, helpless, downtrodden, etc, even just a little. It's normal to feel this way sometimes, and we shouldn't be ashamed of it. It's especially fucked up because they're literally saying a dying child shouldn't feel this way. Feeling frustrated and hopeless is met by "stop feeling sorry for yourself". Seriously?!? That would be hard for most adults in that situation, let alone a child!

As bad as this movie was, it does have a sweet idea that the brother is not only making sure she takes care of herself, but that she has a reason to and a why she should. It just wasn't executed well.

The “she has to want to get better” thing is so-Blech. Like, when I was diagnosed with cancer at 25 (stage 2, type A, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma), I had people asking me if I was praying or trying cannabis oil, or other weird questions as to how I was dealing with it. No. I was getting a porticath put in my chest so I could go through chemo for four months, because the tumour in my chest was an inch and a half by an inch. But no. I should have wanted to get better. That makes sense. About as much sense as cannabis oil, anyway. I’m 27 now, and I’ve got scans the next four years to make sure I stay in remission, but I’ll make sure to tell the people in the cancer ward “you should just want to get better”. Because legos.

The cast of Beast Wars being in this just goes to show, a decent cast cannot save a bad story, bad writing, and a monumentally flawed premise. It’s also an indicator that a decent cast given bad direction nose dives quickly. Also, I love how their hair keeps changing color, it could be a drinking game.

Not only Snowden is creepy, he's also a jerk! Everytime Emery-Elizabeth is scared or panics; he said her ideas are stupid and wants to leave her alone on a mountain. The shameless charlatan isn't a villain, Snowden is the real villain of this movie! All the old man did is stole a smile and turn toys into sludge, the Snowman did way worst and his attitude is awful! Wow Landen's parents are horrible! They trusted a doctor who says that she have to WISH TO GET BETTER to survive, tries nothing to comfort her and they don't cook food either. They don't deserve to live, shame on them XS

urgh, how cringy is that he must call his sister by the full name EVERYTIME! I mean, come on! Who the hell never gives a nickname to a close relative with a long name! Shouldn't everybody just call her Emily, Liz, Emi or such? Calling "Emily elizabeth" all the time is just annoying to the ears.

I am getting Rayearth vibes from this. Reminds me of Emeraude and her will power keeping the realm of Rayearth protected. If this goes the same way then Princess Electra will be in love for the Shadow Charlatan and die together.

I just wasted about 45 minutes of my life on that... thing, and I honestly feel like it actually had potential to be a good, sweet story. The boy took her sister's thoughts away from her illness, made sure she took care of herself, and gave her the will to live that she needed. (which is weird, like the only reason why she wanted to stay alive is to hear a story??) But like it shows how much he cared about her and I thought that was sweet. Sadly they combined this idea with a poor attempt to copy The Snowman (Or Frosty? Maybe both?).

Rewrite for a better story. Brother builds snowman to make sick sister happy, no story about Electra and her kingdom, next morning sister and the snowman are gone and left behind are a note and little smiling snowgirl wearing sisters robe, it’s a race against the clock to save sister from the creature he created to make her happy.

I was wondering why this was familiar from the title card and then I realized, Phealous reviewed this one. Now I know.

Emery Elizabeth? What's the matter, couldn't they make up their minds on what to call her? I can see her parents' conversation on that now: "I want to call her Emery!" "But I want to call her Elizabeth!" "Let's compromise. We'll call her Emery Elizabeth all the time!" "Great idea!" Why couldn't they just have called her "Elizabeth?" Why does everyone have to have to give characters such "trendy" names nowadays anyway? This is also pretty sickening. I like some pretty sickening stuff, but this is just too much! Blecchhhh! Give me the original "Snowman" any day! It's so awesome in it's simplicity.
