There’s some misinformation regarding North Carolina deadlines in some of the comments below so please read: October 11 is the last day to register IF you’re going to vote on Election Day. However, if you’re voting EARLY (recommended) you can still register and vote on the same day, from Oct 17 all the way to Nov 2. The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Oct 29. Everone needs to check to see if they are still registered to vote. North Carolina just took over 745,000 voters off the voting rolls!!! So do not assume you are still registered, call and make sure ASAP. If you do Early Voting you can register the same day as you early vote which is October 11th to November 2nd in NC. If you are waiting to vote on November 5th then you need to register by October 11th in North Carolina. If you live in a different State, please check your State's rules on when you can register to vote, as the rules vary widely by each State.

Definitely can relate. My moms side of the family has many racists. I recently saw that side of my family for a Labor Day cookout; (first time seeing this side all together in nearly 15+ years); they don’t speak as I came in the garage but loudly and randomly start chanting MAGA and Trump 2024; as the night progressed and the booze kicked in; the cousin I was closest to comes up to me finally and simply asks “So you gonna vote for Harris cause she’s black? Or are you gonna make the right decision? Your white too you know?” Their dad had to come intervene, of course I could have avoided this by not wearing a Kamala t-shirt he tells me, and “we are all family here, you know none of us see color so don’t even go there.” Wild night that was.

A community consists of people with common goals and interests. The “black community“ is nonexistent. I am a 60-year-old white boy who is a member of a community that is diverse in race and ethnic /cultural background. There are indeed some communities that are exclusively black but not all Black people are members of the same community let alone a universal “black community”.
