More from the Randall-Salter magic lantern collection. This time, chromatropes, generally created with contra-rotating pieces of glass driven by rackwork. Sometimes chromatropes just created patterns, sometimes they mixed still images or other movement with the patterns. In the case of the last two slides in this sequence, they're from a set of glasses that can be interchanged in the slide, giving the lanternist a host of further options.
In general, we make the video to match the slides. Occasionally, given the difference between the image on a computer screen and the image projected from the lantern, there's can be a change to produce the optimum effect - such as a black area which would be white when projected. But no more changes than we can help!
These are listed in our 1891 catalogue, so are from before that date.
