I was there in the 80's and early 90's (Before the takeover) and people of Hong Kong enjoyed a fairly free and decent lifestyle...Obviously, just like any other huge city, you have districts that are bad and house the less fortunate and there was a struggle, just like it is anywhere else. I never lived there, so I can't say for sure, but most of the people I talked to there seemed to be doing ok. Since the takeover I read that things have plummeted quite a bit and they are no longer free like they were. Which sucks.

As a British Cantonese, with long roots in HK. I find these videos very disgusting actually... and borderline atrocious as well. And that the so called "investments" has ended up with something of this level... and ruining the world as well. Really bad !!!!! I didn't trust such services... and in the end, I gave it back to her to burn in my wishes. (In that moment... my heart sank a lot.. really heavily. Why? Cos I know that she would reuse those items again and actually not even burn the incense for me. I know that is what she would do ? Cos I could see that she scribbled the top notes only which means that it would leave the other stack left over.) Something like this.. a simple thing.. becomes an actual corruption now. Now I am starting to get why the riots.. and what else has been happening.
