This is amazing. I love things like this. It’s different. I feel I would use this once in a while. I got a wallet that my wife got me that would fit it. It’s bifold. I could just keep it in there. Maybe have a story to go with it
There has to be some input mechanism. But how? It also makes me wonder if they specifically ask for a location that exists but does not have an airport.
This is a cool trick. I will say, though, that by including a picture of the ticket with the QR code visible (as is done when you show it in a wallet) the method is exposed since we can scan it ourselves and see what link is produced. Maybe not an issue for you but I thought I would give you a heads up! Thanks for the honest reviews.
the "method" is exposed? When I scan it - it takes me to a city in the world like I describe in the video. I tell you in the video what scanning the code does
It seems very clever...I almost bought this back when it was first released, but was a bit unsure if the method would be compatible with my performance style.
Just wondering David if the tickets have a date on them? If not, you might be able to say I have kept 3 of my old style paper boarding passes and one of them is the city you chose.?.?
Seems like a major weakness is the moment you take out your phone and punch in their City. Sort of blatantly inputting information. How else would they think
Hey! Thank you for the video review ... but you had me at "... they scan it" They Scan It!!?? 60 years on this earth and I've never seen a paper boarding pass that reveals your destination only if you scan it. Unless I'm missing something, the paper boarding passes list the origin and destination. So, since a QR/Barcode is involved in the revelation then I instantly know how it's done. Don't get me wrong, knowing how it's done has never affected my thoughts about the effect itself (like knowing how green screen effects work in movies never keep me from enjoying a movie). I now know why no app is needed (30+ years as a software developer - it's not rocket science). I applaud the simplicity of the method. However it's the scanning of the paper boarding pass that throws a huge red flag. So, here it the $1,000,000 Question - Can the helper hold and see the city that was named *** printed on the ticket itself? *** Because THAT would be a miracle! I saw from one of your photos that the origin is presented BUT the destination is missing. By the way ... Certainly, I've seem people (more than one) presenting paper boarding tickets ... even when my wife and I we took a flight from BWI earlier this year. I'm just sayin' Keep up the good work. I love your reviews (especially when you do them in your room with Marvel "stuff" on the shelves. I look forward to your next video. 😀
I don’t know on this one. I saw a performance of this and immediately Sussed out the method as did everyone I showed it to. Anyone who does any sort of marketing will be more than aware and familiar with the method. It would have been neat 10 years ago but these days it’s far too obvious to anyone who deals with marketing. It’s a dynamic effect sure, but the dynamic nature may be its undoing
“For the rest of your life….or for however long this website is supported.” This is exactly why I shy away from technology driven tricks. It feels like you are “leasing” the trick. I have seen this trick marketed for a while and the trailer was a total miss for me. After seeing your review, I may be buying this. Using patter, there can be endless reasons for the paper tickets. Anything as basic as “I hang on to these old paper tickets because they are magical.” or something like, “I used to be an executive for a large tech company, I won’t say which. During my time there I earned status on these airlines that gives me open ended travel to anywhere in the world for the rest of my life.” Makes you sound like a high roller. You could come up with a myriad of back stories for why you have this "status". It would be fun to try out on fellow travelers. Airport bars, tours, on a cruise etc. One negative you didn’t mention is that certain ppl may wonder what the heck you just did to their phone with that QR code. They may not respond politely.
I hate this trick... If you're performing this to anyone my age under 30 instantaneously they're going to think A. Why is there a paper boarding pass and B. QR codes/ barcodes can send to any URL where that content it directs you to can be manipulated. Younger people are a lot more tech savvy and will become suspicious .
@@magicorthodoxy I get that Dave but with me living in Europe perhaps the audience over here dare I say it are a little bit more well travelled. Furthermore it would meen the trick becomes even more outdated for every day that passes here on out.
