Mine should arrive in a few days. Seriously, I can't remember the last time I've been that excited. There's a great video on youtube with an ESP routine by Luke Jermay where he uses a pendulum. I think I'll try to combine that one with Eclipse, too.
Your voice is needed. I have been Podcasting since 05. Many hours editing, so I thank you your dedication. It is a gold age for magic, your a part of that shinyness. Exciting Times.
GREAT Review David,I just placed the order from 1914,with all the stuff that I got from them, well I wll have a great of material to practice and incorporate in my repertory.keep doing what you are doing, performing also....and KEEP YOUR MAGIC ALIVE
Will this be going into your next top 5 ESP decks video? And are you replacing any of your other ESP decks with this one? Great review as always! I plan on buying this weekend! 🔮 Thanks, Brian.
Dang, like I need another marked deck of ESP cards! Of course I do! These look nice, I like Dee's stuff and the 1914 are releasing some awesome stuff. Great review
I myself use an ESP set based on a classic Bicycle deck with the standard rider back. I can shuffle them into the deck and control the cards and i could just manually mark the cards if I needed them to be marked. Unless you specifically need to be able to identify them from a long-distance, just doing standard markings on a regular Bicycle deck I find does the job for most routines. Though I do like the design of this back and the artwork is really nice.
I missed this review last month. After seeing so many positive comments in your January Giveaway about this deck, I went back and watched this …. very thorough, as always 👍🏻👍🏻 ready to order from @1914, even with the negative reviews on 🐧 …. Thanks
This marking system is very attractive. The only con in my opinion has nothing to do with the deck itself but with the emphasis on being able to read them from across the room. I understand that this is the creator’s way of proving that the marking system works very well. However, to encourage across-the-room reading during actual performances seems to me to be a potential red flag. Yes, of course, as a mentalist, you can read cards and minds from across a room. You should be able to do it from across the world. My point (and I don’t think it’s a case of “thinking like a magician”) is that to make a big deal of being able to divine from a distance versus from across a table invites participants to wonder why you are doing so. I think that this can still be done but I’d suggest just doing it instead of over-selling it by stating the obvious (“I will now read your mind from across the room”). By sending even an unstated message that there is nothing fishy about the cards will cause some people to immediately assume there is something fishy about the cards, so less is probably more here. Over-emphasizing might only result in someone actually inspecting the cards more than they might in an over-the-table reading and I’m not sure you gain that much positive drama by backing up ten feet to work the miracle. The design itself is very cool and seems well worth the price. My comments only relate to presentation methodology and I recognize that everyone has their own “right” way of doing things.
A very good point Mark. Absolutely no need to prove that 'mind reading' has a 'range' or 'signal strength' 😅Maybe as you say, it's just a way of demonstrating the ease with which the marking system can be read.
I knew I’d want a spare deck, (one to keep in the car, so I’ve always got it, wherever I may roam); so I pre-ordered two - from different magic retailers. Unfortunately, neither have shipped yet. (Why did I pre-order it? When I pre-order new music releases, they’re mailed out so I get them the day of the release or the day after. Magic releases should be the same. But it’s been out officially two days now and neither pre-order has shipped. Ugh. I’m very excited about this deck and can’t wait to receive mine, (hopefully by this weekend?). I wish I had a local brick and mortar shop I could swing by and just pick one up instead of waiting on a late shipment from across the country. Especially when it’s something like ‘Eclipse’, that I’m eagerly wanting to get my hands on and get to using it it right away. Another great review!
Awesome review! I listen, I pay attention to what you have to say, I did check out the other reviews, and yes I believe this is a Total Eclipse of anything else in its class, Bravo Sir🙏🏽(actually only real magic review, haven't viewed petty's view yet).
Thanks for another great review. So, after buying this deck, I will never have to buy another ESP deck again? This is the end all to ALL other decks, right? So, by purchasing this I will actually save money, because I will not have to pay for another ESP deck? That's my reasoning for my wife. Do you think she'll buy into it? Lol
Man the jonny wong envoloes they mention are dang near expensive as the orphic plus wallet. That being said they should have included some paper envelopes. Arts ans crafts and a trip to the store are such a bummer when you're ready to rip into a new package and start diving deep. Smilesotheylikeyou
I think the weakest aspect to the effects provided is the serial banknote number prediction. Dee never gives an explanation as to what to do if the spectator doesn’t have a banknote or the banknote the spectator gives you is of a different design than the one that is switched out.
So my wife gave me permission to buy the trick. BUT no more magic this year. ☹️ AND I am never allowed to buy another ESP deck ever again. And I owe it all to your great review. Thanks David, keep up the great work.
Soooo… I don’t think my cards are plastic. They may be, but they feel like thin card stock. Anyone else? They certainly may well be plastic, but I’m now willing to test! Hope all are well. Talk soon.
add copy: The cards are printed on plastic stock to avoid degradation, so if they get grubby, simply wipe them clean. No more ordering a new pack for every gig you're booked for!
The cards don't pass close scrutiny. YOU MUST NOT LET SPECTATORS LOOK AT THEM!! EVERYBODY WHO LOOKED AT THEM SAW THE DIFFERENCES ON THE CARDS! The only positive point is that there are made of plastic. That's all!
Untrue. I’ve carried these cards pretty much everywhere I’ve gone since Eclipse was released in late 2021. I’ve performed various routines countless times and no one has noticed anything. I even had a lady in a bar last year say, “it has to be the cards!” So I handed her the cards. Her friend said to her after she had been looking at the cards for a few moments, “if there was anything going on with the cards, he wouldn’t have handed them to you…besides, he’s been way the f**k over there!” I was about 10 or 12 feet away. She found nothing. Spectators are handling the cards in most of the routines I perform and no one has ever found anything and only one person declared it was the cards…and she found nothing to back up her assumption and did not have the support of the rest of the people in that bar. I can see the marks so easily and so quickly that I’ve seen what I’ve needed to see, even in the process of turning away, so in the eyes and mind of the spectators, I had no opportunity or time to read any markings, even if they suspected there might be some. When I first got Eclipse, I pulled the cards out and without seeing them before or being told what the marking system was, I found the marks and correctly deduced which mark was for which symbol. Because of that, I, too, was worried it would be too easy to get caught and worried my spectators would notice as quickly and as easily as I did. None have. (The best reactions I’ve gotten so far with the cards have been to have a Wiccan who reads Tarot tell me I have a true and powerful gift, (and she’s a friend of a friend and knows I perform magic, so you’d think she’d be skeptical and expect some trickery); and I had one lady in a small group at a theater afterparty screaming, “WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!”, over and over, completely baffled and amazed. From frequent use for over a year now, it has been my experience that these cards stand up under under plenty of laypeople scrutiny. Unless you’re just handing the cards out as a challenge and/or aren’t engaging the spectators with a decent routine, the odds of the markings being noticed by laypeople during performance - even when they’re handling them - is very slim.
