Nice review. I had an old haunted deck as a kid, which used a fishing type line. It was ok, but it worked best in dim lighting. 👍👍

I love that you liked Alida. Everyone hated Alida but I thought it was genius. I still use it to this day.

magicorthodoxy I’ve made new ones. The hardest part is finding hard plastic circles for the base (obviously ear plugs are no problem). I cut new bases out of thick plastic containers and it works. But yeah cool effect! It’s all about audience management (much like this trick I’m assuming). You have to control people and keep them from reaching for the card. But the slow revolving levitation is strange and beautiful.

I had the last version with DVD that included the gimmicks. I couldn't get the nack of this for some reason. That was the 2.0 version as well. I might look into it again.

there is no such thing as "best" only what I like vs what you like. Best advice I can give is just to watch my reviews, stay a subscriber and begin compiling a wish list for yourself - ask questions - join some magic forums - follow some magicians and creators you love on instagram and hold on for the ride of your life

Great concept, but my issue with it was always reliability. Could not ever get a consistent and reliable result with this, which is a deal breaker for any gimmick for me.

I just want to address the point that what we do should look like "real magic". I think Ricky Jay or Harry Lorayne would differ. Most of the time they are presenting a demonstration of skill. Think about the cups and balls. You might say the ball vanishes from this cup and ends up under that one but this is tongue in cheek. It's a demonstration of skill. Personally, I don't think magicians should or need to encourage belief in magic.

There is a vast difference between the "dark arts" and "he who shall not be named" and creating a moment that has wonder and awe. Cups and balls can produce real wonder in the watcher, just as much as any

@@magicorthodoxy Reality is wonderous. You don't need to create a lie to create wonder. It's not a moral thing with me. I don't think of things in terms of dark arts. I just think trying to make people believe things that are not true is not necessary. As Penn Gillette says when a magician cuts a woman in two no one leaves the theater believing the saw a murder. If someone leaves a performance thinking they have seen real magic then we have helped to make them vulnerable to charlatans.

@@magicorthodoxy Penn Gillette says a magician should never lie to the audience. I think the truth is in between. Harry Lorayne might claim he is doing an invisible pass when he is really doing the gamblers hop. Ricky Jay may lie to his audience but they don't walk out of the theater thinking he is a sorcerer. His entire premise is that he is a hustler, an expert with cards. Thank you for reading and responding to my post.
