They had great chemistry in the movie, subtly translated the love interest of Mulan well into live action. Fun Fact: Honghui was historically seen as the love interest of Mulan and not Li Shang ;-) The Movie is so far a succes in my book. I got myself one of those Fanko Pops!
I think the chemistry between Mulan and Honghui is a lot more fleshed out as compared to Mulan and Li Shang in the animated film. Thus the decision to make Mulan's love interest as someone who's equal rank with her is a very smart move.
I’m not sure why either but everyone has different opinions. I like both animated and live action But the sequel of Mulan 2 is just okay music is good though

It’s sad because the movie got a lot of hate about it, they worked sooo hard on the movie, I did watch the movie twice, it was ok, but am still a bit angry that they did not have the dragon, and had the Phoenix, but it’s an OK movie, but the cartoon is much better and if the movie could have sort of did the same thing I think both movies would have been good.
I no longer support this actress because she sided with the police in Hongkong. She could've have said I'm advocating for peace and against violence in general but instead she sided with the police ignoring the fact that there were violence from the police side. I still would not see this movie based on that principle.

I mean people hate on Disney when they just remake as cash grabs but then when they actually change it up they also get hated on. There’s no winning for them.
Being that I wanted it to be released in theaters as it should but deep down the film is very good and beautiful after so many months of waiting I finally saw it I hope that by 2021 the new Disney Classic will be released in theaters and other Disney will be released in theaters . too
I loved the movie! Yes its different from the animated version and you shouldnt compare the two. But the story of mulan has always been about a girl from a village who joins the army and risking dishonor and death. The life action goes more into those details and i think that's what makes this movie great. So many important details that happen or happened in real life to. + its actually more realistic and the story makes more sense, realistically. But Mulan the animation is one of the best disney movies. So making a good life action is a challenge. But i think they did a great job! People who only complain about the movie because of the differences and no mushu, dont appreciate the art and the beauty of the story of Mulan.

Mulan's own folktale doesn't even mention any of those things, those are some fictional things the director decided to put on for this dumpster fire. The story in the animation was better, Nikki made a potential good movie full and lifeless. The only good thing was the tone but the events was hollow.

Exactly. Not only that, but it was also remade as a way for Disney to "make it up to" China considering the fact that the Chinese actually hated the original animated film adaptation of the ancient Chinese ballad because of how it's almost nothing like it's source material. They're basically purists. China has the largest movie market in the entire world and Disney knows that very well because profit is the only thing that they really care about now. And like the majority of their other unwanted, unnecessary, inferior, and insulting cash-grab remakes, Disney just wanted to have an excuse to make less new and original content as well.
I feel so sad about this movie. It just sends the most terrible message. A woman is not special only when she had magical powers. This was just terrible remake, just like all the other remakes. Please, just stop and try to do something actually new and sort of interesting instead of ruining what everyone loved.
