Hello I am new at decorating, I took a class and love it. Your cakes are beautiful, I made the Unicorn cake for my granddaughter's second birthday and it turned out pretty well. Thanks for your tutorials!!
I am doing this cake for a very special little girls bday this weekend. I always come to ur page first for help and i love how u do more buttercream cakes than fondant cakes!
I made this cake this past weekend for my friends little girls 4th birthday and your video saved me when making the horn! The one I did kept sliding off the stick bc i was trying to wrap it around just the stick with no fondant on it! Thanks for your videos this one was a lifesaver and made a 4 year old very very happy!
just made this cake! and i love it! i love everything chelsweet does! i also made some chocolate cupcakes and used her chocolate recipe and everyone loved it! thanks so much!
I just discovered you literally 30 minutes ago. Just a couple of things I had in mind: I like the music you use. It would be great if you could use it as your background music for the entire video; I like the way you instruct your videos though they seem very raw. But I understand that not everyone can have a super over-the-top kitchen so I like the way you work with what you got; I hope to see you grow as a baker, in that I mean you get more followers, an amazing baking space, and a show that's well-known.
Thanks! Baking is just a hobby for me, I have a full time job in finance! All my videos are shot in my apartment, and I'm definitely still working on my video editing skills, but I'm learning as I go :)
aw thanks Miranda! It can vary based on the height of your horn, but I'd say about 12 inches! I'd recommend just cutting the top of a box off, or propping it up!
The cake base has buttermilk in it, so it's super moist! I wrap and freeze my layers, which lock in the moisture! They look a bit hard in the video, but that's because they're still cold :P
I'm in love with your work 😍 Would it work with cream cheese frosting? Have you got a recipe to recommend enough for this layered cake? Thank you in advance.
Yes, cream cheese frosting would work great with this cake!! The recipe I use for most of my cakes is this: chelsweets.com/2016/09/05/best-vanilla-layer-cake-recipe/
Chelsweets Bakery hi! Love your videos so much! Im from Kyrgyzstan. Just read the vanilla layer cake recipe and I don't understand what "a cup" means. How much gr there is in a cup. Can you please write how much sugar, flour and butter in grams I need for this recipe. Thank you
Frosting recipe can be found here: chelsweets.com/2016/11/01/the-best-american-buttercream-recipe/ And using americolor gel food coloring! Hope that helps!
thanks, my daughter has asked for a unicorn cake for her birthday party this weekend, I usually decorate cakes with fondant so doing 1 with butter cream is going to be interesting
I usually remove the layers from the pans one they're fully cooled, and gently dust off any crumbs/crusty bits with my hands! Then pop them into an airtight container.
haha i know! Bench scraper just always sounded so terrible to me, so I kind of renamed it in my head!!! :P I also only really use it to decorate cakes, so that's what it is to me :)
