Nice video….. you motivated me to adjust my handle bars , adjustable stem, reach and brake levers and grips Wow no more numb thumb. You do make it look quite easy. Question you don’t use a torque wrench ?
Thank you for the comment! No, over the years of wrenching on things I just got a feel for it. I think, depending on how much experience you have, a torque wrench is a good idea though.
I also have to replace my magic cycle shifter, which means I'm gonna have to replace the cable as well. My question to you is why is it you touch the barrel adjuster? Can you leave it from how it was,? Second question, what do I do if my shift or broke while it was in the fifth year and I can't get it to go back to the seventh year like my shifter won't click. So how do I put the new one in if the old 1 was stuck on fifth gear? Could you please help me out with this?
The barrel adjuster does fine adjustments to align the two smaller “tension” gears with the cassette gears. You try to find the middle of that adjustment so you can adjust up and down as needed once you put in the new cable. As far as your second question, once you release the cable to remove your old shifter the tension will shift to seventh gear as the cable won’t be holding it at gear 5 anymore. Does that answer your questions?
No. The Rockbros grips are full length and would not accommodate a twist throttle. But there are lock on options for grip sets that have a “short” grip that does accommodate a twist throttle. Here are a couple options… (more available on Amazon if you search I am sure) Brown leather grips for twist throttle amzn.to/3MMgPvW Black leather grips for twist throttle amzn.to/3IW0p2G
