'Maging makatao kayo': Sofitel protesters urge management to retain workers' jobs once hotel reopens 

The abrupt termination of employees by Sofitel management is both unethical and cruel but there is no legal remedy for it as long as they fulfill their obligations i.e. release just amount for their respective separation pay. With the animosity between workers and the management, rehiring them may not be an option. One of the problems that workers face is that there are more job seekers than job openings. Business entities are then in a position of power when it comes to selection. Paradoxically, the people who push for more regulations are the ones keeping the gap between job seekers and job openings large, as they disincentivize investors from creating job opportunities.

Masakit mawalan ng trabaho pero pano naman ang Businesses hindi nga sila mag close pero matagal naman ang renovation so ibig sabihin nyan meron talagang over excess na employee ano kayo swerte swesweldohan kayo kahit nakatayo lng kayo kac nabawasan ang production pero hindi nag bawas ng employee? nag tayo sila ng business para kumita at kng alam nila meron silang excess of employee natural magbabawas yan basta binayaran kayo ng seperation pay. Hindi responsibilidad ng Employer buhayin kayo hangang Retirement and kayo nga mga Employee pag gusto nyo mag resign meron ba magagawa ang mga Employer to stop you? pwede mag resign ang employee pag ayaw nya na magtrabaho pero pag eh release with seperation pay eh BAWAL?

we all know the feeling once your going to be out of work serving a company. but companies thrive on profit for the shareholders. this the culture of corporate business and this is the reality of working class. the UNION knows the LAW there partylist rep should improve the LAW on labor management and compensation. partylist representatives are part of the political spectrum that they to compromise for their personal political gains, thus NO GROWTH in the Philippines as a whole. the Sofitel is an example of how politics and corporate business monopolized progress. so pray for better minded management.

If I was one of them, I'd rather be busy looking for another job instead. They all know that closure is imminent and they cannot do anything about it. Also, It's not a good idea to wait kung kailan matatapos ang renovation because what if it takes 4 years for that to finish, saan ka kukuha ng income mo? you will definitely lose if you don't accept that separation pay. And if in case it's a a re-brand, this is entirely managed by a new property so that means they will hire an entirely new set of workers.

Well they won't ever get hired again. That relationship has soured now. Go and take your little union someplace else who would hire you. But we all know nobody will. Businesses hate unions.

One of my favorite hotels. Minsan talaga dapat isara for renovation at walang trabaho halos lahat pero normally kapag mahusay kang employee ibabalik ka nila. Hopefully, magka ayos kayo.
