About Ombrelli Maglia:
Maglia Francesco started making umbrellas in 1850 while working as an apprentice at the age of 14. Four years later, Francesco opened his own umbrella company called 'Ombrelli Maglia.' Since 1854, the family-run company has been making the finest handcrafted Italian umbrellas using the same traditional techniques they mastered over 150 years ago. Part of the magic of owning a Maglia Francesco umbrella is that you're owning something that reflects 150 years of quality craftsmanship.
Construction
There are three different types of construction we offer for our umbrellas.
1) Solid Stick umbrella
A solid stick umbrella is constructed using a single piece of wood- from the handle to the cane.
2) Two Piece Construction
The two-piece construction typically has a wooden or leather handle and a beechwood shaft. A two-piece umbrella is more of a fashion umbrella.
3) Folding/Travel Umbrella
A folding or travel umbrella is still constructed using the same techniques as the other- it's just more practical for travel purposes.
