Every year, on the closest Saturday to the 15th June, Egham celebrates the sealing of the Magna Carta. From brass bands to dancers and beyond, Magna Carta Day is an eclectic day that starts at 11am and finishes around 4pm.
On Magna Carta 2018, Saturday 16th June, the community enjoyed a Suffrage-themed day, celebrating 100 years of some women having the right to vote.
The day was organised by a core team from the local community, including Egham Museum who part funded the day through our 'Suffrage in Egham' Arts Council England grant.
Our guests of honour included Lady Louise O'Connor Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey and her husband Sir Denis, the High Sheriff of Surrey Jim Glover, the Mayor of Runnymede Cllr Mrs Dolcie Clarke and MP Philip Hammond.
