In this analyze out loud video, Chuck Carnevale, co-founder of FAST Graphs offers a by-the-numbers review of Magna International Inc. (MGA). This A- rated stock offers a 3.04% dividend yield and trades at a blended P/E ratio of 11.94, and a significant discount to its intrinsic value. Consequently, it offers the combination of above-average dividend yield that has grown considerably since 2010.
Although the company is expected to have a small decrease in operating earnings in fiscal year 2022, future growth is expected to recover strongly. Magna International, Inc. is a mobility technology company which engages in the design and engineering and manufacturing of automotive parts and supplies. The company’s various product lines produce products for exteriors, interiors, seating, roof systems, body and chassis, powertrain, vision and electronic systems, closure systems, electrical vehicle systems, tooling and engineering.
Recent earnings weakness leading to price weakness is due to a severe shortage of chips and parts consistent with the entire automotive industry. According to Zacks Investment Research, the company operates under four reportable segments: body exteriors and structures representing 39.3% of total revenues, power and vision representing 30.8%, seating systems representing 13.3%, and complete vehicles representing 16.6%. The company does about 46% of their business in North America and 43% in Europe. Therefore, Magna International Inc. is one of the largest and most diversified auto parts suppliers in the world. This research candidate is offered as both a current income and long-term total return candidate.

As usual, excellent analysis. I have owned BWA for a while now, in large part because of analyses future earnings projections and current dividend yield. Based on this video I will be reviewing my investment in BWA and whether I will add some shares. A continuing thank you for adding so much to our investment research toolbox.

the cyclicality is really scary, I think car parts will do really bad next years... aswell BWA... really cheap but huge EPS revisions down.

Look at Magna’s products: Body Exteriors & Structures Chassis Structures Exterior Systems & Modules Trim and Engineered Glass Active Aerodynamics Energy Storage Systems Power & Vision Electrified Powertrain Technologies Conventional Powertrain Technologies Powertrain Subsystems & Components ADAS and Automated Driving Control Modules Mechatronics Mirrors and Overhead Consoles Lighting Seating Systems Seat Complete Structural Products Foam and Trim BioSciences Electric cars or ICE car, it makes no difference which because they both have suspensions, for example. The biggest risk factors IMHO are the energy crisis in the EU, chip shortage and the strengthening dollar (soon to change). But nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain.

@@nateisright ... Tesla is changing the game. TSLA adjusted EBITDA margin was about 22.4% in the second quarter compared to 20.8% in the second quarter of 2021. GM's adjusted EBIT margin -- margin before interest and taxes -- was 6.6%, halved year-over-year. Ford's adjusted EBIT margin is 8.8%

How often are analysts correct on their estimated earnings for MGA? I feel like the estimates may seem a little overambitious.

approximately 70% of the time. The only real messes were recently during the CHIP and supply interruptions. Otherwise it's very well managed and is A- rated with reasonably loww debt.

Looks like many of these automotive suppliers have come down to reasonable valuations. AAP fell hard today as well.

Thabk you - I am rising hand for Snap-on as someone above me. From other hand i would ask for V and MA as those are currently ones i am considering. Visa came out as the one which passed my very hard screener but I would like to know what do you think about it.

I would think companies like Myers or Credit Acceptance are a better deal as used cars are on the rise. In a recession almost everyone opts to keep on driving their old cars or they buy used cars, which are cheaper. Less money in a recession + inflation (stagflation), so people try to spend less.

GEO is like a binary bet. You could win big or you could lose everything. Personally I just don't want to own a private prison company.

I invested in GEO. Their main customer is ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). There are caravans of people pouring into the US everyday. The Governor of Texas is sending buses full of migrants to different States because they're so overwhelmed.

@@Mondknall They managed to restructure their debt and push it to 2027, and the main worry was that they could face bankruptcy in 2024. If Republicans take back Congress in the midterms, GEO could skyrocket. But regardless of politics the company is undervalued.

I think too much growth is baked in because of rumors about Apple car. However, at MGA you are looking at a very solid company with multiple high performing segments. Also a company that simply does not give you dividends but high buybacks as well

Hey Chuck isn't Magna a Canadian company ? The reason I ask is because I hold shares of BNS and every quarter when the bank kicks out the dividend I get hit with the foreign investment tax. If I understand correctly if held in a tax sheltered account Canadian companies get the pass from the IRS. Wish I had been aware of it all prior to investing. As always thanks for your analysis !

Actually it is Canada that is withholding the tax, not the IRS THE TAX IS DEDUCTABLE AGAINST THE TAX ON OTHER DIVIDEND INCOME. If held in a retirement account the tax is not taken out due to international agreement.

Chuck i would like to see a video about VCF and your thoughts on the future of this Stock,that has beaten down to the ground! In my Holidays in Florida i buyed a new Jack from the North Face for 110$,the Stores seems to me good full with people and a lot of Buying there.The Quality of the Jack is amazing for this Price and i buyed my last North Face Jack 2012 and still great and in Action,but wanted another one and i think this Stock for the Long term seems cheap.
