The fabric bag is a heer verpflegung bag or a ration bag for primary food purposes. They used to carry flour, rice and other cooking materials in these. Very stunning shape for a fabric that stayed more than 70 years in the water.

At first I thought that was some sort of door you could see, but after those finds kept coming up it was to me more like a trenched position that might of been hit, and that big piece, given it had what looked like holes at both ends, may be a shield piece of a big gun where either the soldiers looked out from behind or where the barrels were. That hole needs to be drained and dug out properly. A real gold mine of history awaits for sure.

@@snowman3630 I love this guy. The places he goes, and I love the fact both his boy and girl are also keen to explore and find things. Its morbid in a way, but there is something so powerful about it at the same time. I have been luckily enough to win 2 diorama from the monthly draw. I love them. To think the bullet casing on that is coming up 80 years old. It was created as a bullet by a person, and may of even taken a life. Now thats is where the human element of this kind of thing hits me. At some point, around 1942 (just a random part of the war) a soldier put that bullet in his rifle. Who was he? Did he make it out alive? Its pretty crazy I know, and only those Goofs that really get excited about History will get it.

The "brass cable" looks very much like either a copper wire antenna for shortwave or alternately copper wire for a field telephone system. What you really need now is a portable pump to pump out the water / drain the pond so you can get in and do a full search of the bottom and that huge unknown lump of something. Well done, good work.

@@WW2HistoryHunter A company called Cold Steel sell a replacement handle for there version of the Spetznatz shovel, that they make for outdoor/bushcraft people, it is very good too but I digress. Anyway I thought it wouid be ideal for the trench shovel when restored. scrape (with the a beater knife) the varnish off it and do a treatment of raw linseed oil on the handle for three days, apply as much as it wants to soak up once a day for three days and use a heat paint stripper gun, to gently help the oil dry at the same time. The handle would take on a lovely natural finish and be protected from deterioration. D

These guns are still in use today in the US Army, and in many other armies around the world! The M2 Machine gun, called the "Ma Deuce', is a truly remarkable weapon (Is there any other 'modern' weapon over 100 years old still in use, by modern army?)

You're going to need a bigger fixed grappling hook and some help to get that oven out. Don't know if digging is permitted there, but if you buried a "dead man" anchor point, you could attach a hand operated "come along" or block and tackle rig to multiply the pulling force. Also, a tripod to increase the pulling angle upward would help free the oven from the mud. Also, look on eBay for a gravity multipurpose grappling hook that can grasp as well as hook. Go with steel or titanium and be sure its big enough to to what you need. I ordered one but it's smaller than it appears in photos. One last thought, if you order a bigger magnet, get one you attach a cable to from two sides. Attached to the center, it will lift more but tends to dig into mud and get hung easier. To the side, it allows you slide the magnet off more easily and pull it along easier. Look forward to seeing what else you find in the pond. Perhaps try the ROV and see what you're missing. Best Wishes

Is it worth sending the under water thingy, down, u get a clearer picture of it then . U are truly so lucky to live in the vicinity of ww2 history , theres not much in the uk ,along the coastal lines that the germans got in ,esp in dover ,the tunnels in kent were all blown up or blocked off ,

Perhaps that sack is an old feed bag for horses. The German army relied largely on horses for transportation until the middle of the war.
