Honestly it comes down to the fact he’s a Holocaust survivor and to him it’s happening all over again and doesn’t see regular humans as anything more than nazis who will use any excuse to make the mutants extinct just like how Jews were targeted and while he hates regular people he doesn’t truly want to become like us but over the comics and time has cemented into his mind that all the half measures he’s taken weren’t enough because regardless people would always fear what they don’t understand and most would rather destroy them then learn to except them out of the fear that like magneto says they’re the jump in human evolution and most can’t except that
Facts. He's a walking EMP that's capable of nerfing the entire planet's power supply, but he doesn't. Why? Because even though he chose violence when it was thrust upon him, he always holds back due to having some level of hope of peace. It's why both him and Prof X are right at the same time. Same goal, merely opposing methods. Magneto simply hit his limit first.
@Soldier4USA2005 Yes them two were created symbolically like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. Mutant rights- civil rights 😉. Magneto and Malcolm X wanted segregation. Professor X And Martin wanted integration and peace
@@MM-zg4wu Yeah. He manipulated the iron in that guard's blood in the movie. That was a great scene, and showcases the reach of his powers. Great villain.
@@Ben_Kimber Yes, that is why he was able to extract that much metal to escape. He can still manipulate the iron to suffocate an individual. He has that kind of fine control over his powers.
I love seeing Magneto use his powers subtly, tweaking the electromagnetic field of someones brain, pulling all the iron out of a persons body. Or when he simply freezes an enemy with any kind of metal in their bodies, like Wolverine or Colossus. Great video! Thank you!
The original Magneto in the 60s was not as interesting to me. Very over the top villain dialog and cooky stuff like, his magnetism made people want to do what he said lol. So glad they eventually started adding depth to the character.@@BroNapartay
My favorite version of this was from Age of Apocalypse when Apocalypse was beating an old, crippled Magneto. During the fight, Magneto is beatin into a crater, and while Apocalypse is trying to make it deeper he asks, "WHY WON'T YOU FIGHT BACK?" Magneto grinned through his swolen eyes and busted lip, and said, "Can't fight. Concentrating." and ripped Apocalypse into scrap. Don't mess with Magneto.
Magneto: 'I won't have you starting a war we aren't ready for!' *3 seconds after defeating apocalypse to prevent a war* Magneto: 'Those humans want a war? I'll give'em a war!'
True though he waged war very differently which I think was the point of the scene where he didn’t want shocker to kill the disabled guy because Apocolypse would have killed him and the news crew and never given anyone a chance to surrender where as Magneto both let the non combatants live but by announcing war gives others the chance to surrender.
You underlined the salient point. The humans want a war. They launched a mass assault on the mutants' camp. Humans escalated, the mutants have no choice but to retaliate. But even then, Magneto still eschews the ruthlessness of Apocalypse.
@@danieldickson8591 Yep he’s got a bit of Charles in him because genocide will just result in more mutant bloodshed. For all his flaws he at least knows he doesn’t want the senseless violence visited upon them.
Huh? He tells Apocalypse to chill out, not wanting all out war, but then takes out Apocalypse only to declare war on mankind?? “No Apocalypse, we’re not doing that, die!” “Okay guys, now we’re going to do what Apocalypse said.” 😅😅
I mean humans attacked them with Sentinels right after he said that and he still meant to declare war on the people attacking mutants not defenseless people.
@@michaelgarcia5680 he’s powerful but when’s he facing against someone on his level or stronger he fold he get super confident and look where that lead him.
I've never viewed Magneto as a villain. You can't even really claim his methods are inhumane. He at the end of the day is unfortunately correct in his beliefs that humans and mutants are not capable of real coexistence as long as there are those who would fear mutants there are those who would happily hunt and kill them for nothing more than their own peace of mind this is simply human nature. His goals to create a world where his people can live in peace is a good one if unfortunately unobtainable. He is simply a man tired of being hunted and seeing others being hunted for no other reason than what they are. This is not a villain to anyone but those hunting them and those who would support such actions. Unlike most though he has the power to try to make a stand and that is what he does.
It's based on what version of Magneto because the old version back in the 60's and 70's which I'm going with the cartoons during that time when Magneto was just your normal supervillain going against Spider-Man or being tricked by the Fantastic Four with a wooden gun because he was too cocky about his powers. But I like this version of Magneto because after learning his powers has flaws he just surrenders from the embarrassment.
@@night-x6793 Aye yeah and it's a great representation of what the character is supposed to be. The cartoon versions tend to be incredibly hard to take seriously even if they're mildly fun and that is often the case unfortunately. Which is a big part of why I loved the early 2000s Justice League run. The villains and heroes were treated seriously and they rarely gave them the "dumbing down" treatment that many of it's predecessors suffered from on both DC & Marvel's respective sides of the coin got.
Kinda depends how you want to look at social structures that leads to the situation. Charles after all stands with the position that Magneto sees short term and his solutions only lead to more conflict, death, and bloodshed. Ie morality isn’t black and white, many people fear mutants because 1) they’re constantly fed with lies about them. 2) many mutants are dangerous some unintentionally others use their powers to do bad things for their own gain so it makes sense people would be valid in having more fear of them than a normal person. 3) the people actually responsible for the “war” on mutants are largely a small handful not most of humanity by any stretch of the imagination and the fight should be with them not all the bystanders.
@@DarkBunnyLord This unfortunately mirrors how things work in real life. For a super basic example look at the D.A.R.E. program we had in the 90s and early 2000s. While ultimately an utter failure on it's official intention what they did is spread lies and use fear mongering tactics on children and teens. Now we have a significant portion of the population who do not properly understand most drugs and support a pointless and costly war on substances because the government decided that "drugs bad! Let's lie and spread fear instead of understanding & attempting to help people." Because it's easier and cheaper to play with people's fears and use that to influence them and to use that to push an agenda. This is obviously not comparable to what happens to mutants in Marvel on a semi-regular basis but it's something a lot of us are familiar with personally. Magneto is a result of such circumstances. Not just as a mutant but a holocaust survivor. So he has lived through it once and is living through it a second time. I do not blame him one bit for what he does. As much as I also love Professor Xavier he unfortunately cannot truly understand despite their past together. They're two sides of the same coin so to speak. They share the conflict but have different end goals and methods for their attempts to achieve their goals. Both are valid in my eyes at least. But unfortunately I am a pessimistic misanthrope so I tend to align closer to Magneto.
Magneto at his most powerful doesn't merely manipulate magnetism. At his most powerful he's capable of manipulating the entire electromagnetic spectrum which is one of the fundamental forces of the universe. Magnetos capabilities written by someone with honesty who has a true understanding of physics makes Magneto one of the most overpowered fictional characters not just in marvel comics but in all of fictional history period. Most writers purposefully write his capabilites in a dishonest way because they know he needs to be nerfed otherwise very few characters would be able to beat him
To people wondering how Magneto could win easily against Apocalypse. This is the House of M universe/reality which was created by Mag’s daughter, the Scarlet Witch. In other words Magneto in this fight literally has plot armor. Age of Apocalypse is more accurate of a fight.
No I think magneto is literally just smart with his powers and uses common sense instead of just focusing on being OP honestly plot armour can’t always be a thing
In AOA Magneto had lost half his power re aligning the Earths magnetic field. It wasn't a fair fight. Also during House of M no one was aware of the reality shift and Magneto using his powers to scramble Apocalypses brain was and is well within his normal scope of power use. I don't think being in the House of M reality had much if anything to do with how well he did in combat.
@@qontoh2s872 Scarlet Witch was controlling the House of M reality, the whole point of her doing that was so she could create a believable world that most people that she cared for would get what they want in life and be happy. I don't know anything about Magneto halving his power, but at least the Age of Apocalypses reality was due an accident . So no one was in control.
Bro Apocalypse is weak asf anyways lol he planetary at most its time for him him get better feats no wonder he always get beat been planetary for years
Yeah, it should have easily been a two-part movie series. However, they tried to jam pack it into one film. Apocalypse shows up, tries to conquer, gets his ass kicked, all in a matter of like an hour of screen time LOL
Remember these story's have a root starting point and serve as a warning to us all to be better people or face an ending none of us are ready for! With a future that our children and their children will end up paying for what we failed to do!
Apocalypse lost fairly easily for one with his fame... Guess he wasn't the comic's/issue's main character or wasn't at higher popularity at the moment.
If Magneto can effect the electromagnetics of a mind then that means he could potentially tear the electrons out of atoms This is what happens when you are hit with nuclear radiation, the sub atomic particles literally blast electrons out of your atoms causing them to become unstable
You think that's bad ice man doesn't just make things cold he removes energy from things slowing the air around them to a point where it freezes at the atomic level rendering atoms inert. He could literally end the earth with an instant ice age if he wanted
Potentially? If Magneto wants to do that, he can. He controls magnetism itself, a fundamental principle of physics. If he wants to move earth off it’s axis with basically nothing more than a thought, he can. He wants to go to another galaxy? He can just abuse magnetism to do so. Magneto is one of the most busted mutants in Marvel, simply because he had the good fortune for his mutant ability to have power, and eventually mastery, over magnetism.
In the original Secret Wars Magneto creates a comb for Wasp by pulling individual Iron atoms out of the air forcing them to combine and shaping them into a comb. With decorative scrollwork. It takes all of his concentration and he's sweating afterwards but it utterly terrifies Wasp as she never before understood just how powerful he was, and thats after she's seen his forcefield block Hulk and Thor.
That's hardcore. If I got that right Apocalypse is one of most powerful and most experience mutants of all time. He defeated Black Adam in death battle and all it took for Magneto to beat was to manipulate the electromagnetic fields of En Sabar Nur's mind.
This trick shouldnt work because apocalypse can nulify it since he had compleet controle over his cells and his energie and brainwaves are also energie
@@Marcustheseer But Apocalypse wasn't expecting this attack. He didn't know Magneto can do this, so he wasn't prepared for it. Apocalypse's control over his body requires a deliberate action.
@@stonedwizard0420In fact, if you have a brain, you are vulnerable. Screwing with the central nervous system is a nice, low-power way of making someone either feel like they should be dead... or actually *making* them dead.
It's a nerfed Apocalypse lol, for the sake of glorifying Magneto. A lot of characters have moments like this. Apocalypse would, in all likelihood, have a mutant power to render any magnetic properties within him null; whether through psychic shielding or just basic atomic manipulation & rewriting of reality. If you want to see how a battle between them would actually go, see the initial Age of Apocalypse run
Magneto also defeated one of the most powerful mutants proteus. Being powerful himself plus having battle experience he knows what ways to use his powers for whom ever he battles. I always thought that like Xavier and sinister, magneto also has a database with mutants and there abilities so he would not only know who he may want to recruit but also have knowledge if he has to battle them one day.
@RealStevenSeagal magneto is my favorite mutant and I’m just ok with the fact that they have a comic where he actually battles with his shields up. Normally he get beats by mutants far less powerful than he is when he can simply put up shields and go to work. Apocalypse has been nurfed lately too. He got punished by nimrod even with his armor own without even using a mutant power dampener
Think of Magneto's perspective. He already survived the Nazi's attempt on eliminating Jews. The way he sees the war on mutantkind is no different. When people seek your death because of who you are, literally at a genetic level, the only choices are to fight or die.
In truth I would be caught in the middle because I'm like Xavier because I have no hatred towards Mutants nor Humans. Humans and Mutants need to realize that both sides are repeating the same hatred towards others as the Nazis did because Hatred towards others based upon their outwardly appearence, etc is what led to the Holocaust during World War II
I gotta say. Of all of the Externals, Apocalypse is my favorite, mostly because he's secretly a total nerd. He's only dangerous because he thinks in irreconcilably long terms. We're like gnats to him. I believe he literally created the first mutants as an act of External egalitarianism, which was not popular with the others. Anyone an External stoops to speak to directly should count their blessings, and pay very, very, close attention.
Me too. In the movies, he should be A LOT more powerful.....They didn't even give him his TRUE power, just control over metal. Honestly, I was VERY upset that they ripped off his character like that. The movies didn't do him justice.
Magneto is powerful, love the homie but that was such a corny ending to the AOA. Apocalypse is too powerful to let magneto get that close and even if he did he can literally shut his powers off. Apocalypse has so many different ways he could’ve easily disposed of magneto but like usual.. the villains always die or get defeated in some weirdo ass way 😂. Cool concept but that would work on some bushroot type villain come on. A powerful mutant augmented with celestial technology which he perfected using over 1000’s of years. I’d like to see the timeline where Apocalypse just straight uses everyone to finally conquer this universe. Would be the best ending to this whole fall of x/G.O.D.S/children of the vault thing that’s going on. He needs everyone to step in and play a part. Masterminds it All by himself too. Some bad ass shit that he should be able to pull off. They should make it that A dawg is more powerful than even a celestial and his time away now was him realizing his true potential and eventually taking over this timeline and universe.
Apocayhas has beaten magneto more than once, imprisoned him 2x. And and has also killed him in another story line,..this alternate storyline doesn’t follow how earth 616 would act.. his dialogue, choices are a lot different
Shure like magneto could ever come that close to apocalypse, also apocalypse has compleet controle over his own moleculer structuur so he would basicaly nulify magnitos move
This is most likely not canon to 616. It was after the Wanda reality warp where a lot of continuity was changed and it branched off the timeline enough to get it's own universal designation: Earth-58163
I think your forgetting apocalypse has a healing factor he literally gets back up from this in the same issue ,you don't humble a mutant who has been around since the Egyptian era lol
I like Magneto but yeah right. It's time to start letting some of these villians win in these comics and movies like their suppose too. We're old enough for it now.
Yes thats right. And remember master of magnetism your mind and body is a magnetic field plus photons are independent of a magnetic field. Blue Marvel can control electromagnetic fields plus radio and brainwaves which are part of the electromagnetic spectrum plus he can boost those waves power with his antimatter generation and photons and gravitons too. Or he could just touch you with unstablized antimatter to explode your matter based form or mess with the electrolytes in your brain. So play nice.
People shit on Krakoa stories, but the fights against Tarn and Uranos were much cooler than this little hand laser match. Age of Apocalypse was pretty good though.
Man, Magneto is old, but, in some comics, he's more jacked than some younger mutants dedicated to hand-to-hand fighting and athletics. Imagine if Magneto preferred hand-to-hand fighting and athletics and trained his body for that 💀💀
Gotta love the beginning where "they breed like rabbits, these mutants." Yeah, if Mutants are rabbits then Humans are rats, if not worse. Gotta love how stupid everyone is and how gullible everyone is to literally anyone saying anything... you could basically pick a person off the street in the mutant universe and make them a villain by them convincing world leaders that mutants are a existential threat because so and so... Magneto at least has a point, that humans started a genocide out of pountless fear, and because of that they started a war they never should have. Not only that but sending a fleet of sentinels to attack a refuge camp of mutants...? If their goal was to look like hero's to the world, all I'd ever see is another Hitler level genocide.
Why does Apocalypse keep getting owned by mutants he is supposed to be able to overcome? Being Apocalypse you'd think he'd have thought of this when dealing with Magneto and found a way to overcome him irrespective. Now Apocalypse is falling into that same Sabertooth / Juggernaut trope of being allegedly deadly but so easy to defeat.
Magneto was like: Who DF u think ur talking? 😂 this is the 2nd time I’ve seen someone get melted like an ice cream, the first one was Cyclops melting Mr Sinister with his beams.
