Magneto is one of the most sympathetic of all villains. You know what he is doing is right, to some extent, and you cannot blame him for doing so either cuz he is valid in his way of doing shit in order to save his people, the mutant population. The character is so fleshed out that you feel for his cause. Definitely deserves the top 1 spot IGN gave him as the best villain in comics.
The thing is though, because he is so relatable with a cause worth fighting for, he's not a true villain. He's like Dr Doom, an anti-villain. They're a shade darker than anti-heroes. Heroes do the right thing in the right way for the right reasons. Anti heroes do the right thing in a wrong way for the right reasons. Anti villains do the wrong thing in the wrong way for the right reasons. Villains do the wrong thing in the wrong way for the wrong reason. Action, intention, motivation.
@KK TV buddy, like i said its not exact but the idea of using violance and and peaceful methods of fighting oppression is reflecred in the characters and is intentional
@KK TV 2 political leaders, one who believes they should use violance as a response to oppression and one who believes they should use peaceful means in order to create equality with their oppressors Which one am i talking about?
Serena Viserion You put that heartthrob emoji up! And you have a very feminine pic up, with what looks like makeup, hair professionally done by a hair salon, and lipstick. Just asking!
@@ND001X my hair r natural and never went to salon thank u very much. But u need to remind urself that what other people do or r is not ur business. U r mental
Seriously Magneto is perhaps the great most Ironic comic character ever. In today's climate his story being different Jewish & Mutant and how thus is a reflection of our own bigotry, yet he is perhaps the only real villain that people can and cheer for. Fun Fact: Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were both Jewish, and while the mutli racial multi cultural X Men represented that Magneto was the first Jewish Marvel Comic Character. Which always made me wonder if it was done on purpose.
@@livewell3129 After Infinity Gauntlet Thanos was no longer a nihilist villain obsessed with getting macguffins in order to convince Mistress Death to love him and he became a reclusive farmer and explorer who would occasionally help Adam Warlock and other heroes save the universe.
So happy I found this channel a few weeks ago, makes not being able to keep up on my comics 1000x more bearable :). An you cover these with the passion and love we all have for the industry :) so tyvm Rob. An thank your amazing patrons which allow you to do this channel YOUR way and staying independent.
This is my favorite Marvel character. If I were to have super powers; magnetism would be it. This power grants the user multiple abilities and is amazing
Its one of the best if not the best. The top 3 are Comicsexplained Comicstorian Dopespill Another decent one is fortress of solitude. Check them all out you'll be pleasantly surprised
Magneto lived for a pretty long time, during old man Logan which takes place 50 years into the future Magneto died a couple of years ago from being murdered by King Pin because he was too weak to defend himself.
So is Magneto once again the father Wanda and Pietro now that Disney owns Fox? Also I notice that Magneto looks like Jack Kirby in some of the artwork. Not sure if that was on purpose or not.
I just want to thank you for making literally the best videos about comics and understanding the history and connections between so many characters spanning so many years. Your knowledge and the way you present it is... Uncanny. 😜
Well done!! I have A LOT of Chris's work when they first hit stores and Men was my favorite (Giant Size). I actually agreed with Magneto wayyyyy back then. Couldn't believe it when he decided to lead the Xmen.
Hey Rob. I've been watching your videos for about a year now. I love this channel. I was wondering do you have a video that might have something like a timeline of the most world changing events through Marvel history. I kept up for a while and then got completely lost while I was away. I have a lot of catching up to do. Your videos help with that a ton. Thanks for everything you do.
I have always loved Apocalypse and the way he talks. Really like it when they add on to old characters either their morals or powers, more so villains/former villains.
I have always loved magneto, such a brilliant character. As we may see the potential for his power is crazy as everything in the universe is controlled by magnetism :) restore him to his true power :D
Dude yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! magneto is my fav comic book character he is so complex on so many levels can't was wondering when you would touch on him again
"Good genes". Well, if I had genes that let me manipulate metal as I saw fit, I'd be a damn king over my country! Magneto just rubbing the salt in so far it made an exit wound.
Magneto is such a compelling character -- he can be the villain while remaining sympathetic and very few Marvel creations can do that. His unbending will and brutal philosophy seem understandable though Xavier offers a more reasonable solution. Magneto is freakishly powerful; he controls a fundamental facet of reality and if he goes all-out without restraint he can do almost anything and becomes almost unbeatable and near-invulnerable behind his shield. The dude is strong enough to fight the Phoenix as he harnesses a cornerstone of reality and that's frightening.
Magneto's name in itself speaks on the depth of his powers the actual term is the "magneto sphere" and its been expressed and shown that he is so powerful if he taps into it he literally becomes a consciousness essentially part of the Earth's magneto sphere the Magento clone Joseph did so to repair the damaged magneto sphere. Also there's littles tidbits like how magneto literally will form his clothing and helmet from ambient preexisting atoms. This is a big deal since his costume consists of both metal and cloth. So magneto is already omega level I'd say. Great video and I'm looking forward to your take on Apocalypse degeneration.
Wasn't there a villain in DC called Dr Polaris that has magnetism? I think there was a story where he tapped into the entire electromagnetic force of the universe and became unstoppable. But he had to give it back because reality was breaking down and he would die along with everything else. Magneto could theoretically do the same thing or something watered down if he doesn't want reality to be destroyed. Magnetism and gravity are 2 of the foundations of the universe, anyone with powers that link to those foundations can become godlike.
mrIlovethe90s1 Yep. X-men was made to be political. That is what it was about. To talk about the 60's politics with Mutants. For people to cry about that now and not even read it is hilarious because that is why they were made.
Before Malcom X died his arrogance faded away and he finally realized what Magneto realized in this comic. You must stay alive and fight for what’s right and not run to separate yourself for all time.
