DICK LONG actually I was just getting to comment to little to late for Magnum. As a kid I couldn’t identify him from the thousand Tom Sellick look alikes and even if he hadn’t gotten injured there’s no way he would’ve held on to his spot with a younger healthier Sting coming up and whom kids were drawn to by comparison

WWF was good but NWA in the 80s was electric. WCW was good from 1991-1999. Russo and bischoff ran it into the ground after they let everyone in the nwo. current wwe is horrible, raw is terrible. the wrestling just sucks! TNA was good from 2002-2009 now its bad. Im going to watch ROH, old NWA, AWA and wwf on u tube.
As a fan who attended both WWF and nwa shows back in the 80s I can tell ya all that back then the NWA ruled.You had the Rhodes Flair feud the RNR and Midnight Xpress feud the T..Blanchard feud and the Rhodes Blanchard feud. They packed houses cos I was there so I know.Back then the story lines were simple but great at the same time. Today the sport sucks cos there is no NWA.I dont even watch wrestling anymore.The days of the NWA on WTBS were annd always will be the glory days of wrestling.

Magnum wasn't all that to me. He's no Ric Flair, he couldn't carry the company if he had the belt. I never really cared to listen to his promos. He sounds like a amateur compared to a lot of the other people back then. Then again, he had the bad luck of being around a ton of legendary talkers.
I thought that he was talented enough to win and defend the Championship. Now I realize what guys like Terry Funk, Dory Funk, Jack Brisco, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, and especially Ric Flair meant to "The Big Gold" and how they defined it. Travel dues. The World over. Tampa, Memphis, Kansas City, Atlanta, Tokyo in one week with Dallas and Pensacola besides. Then start the next week in Toronto then Charlotte. I am unsure if Magnum among the many standouts in JCP could've made a Circuit champ even though ironically JCP was starting to narrow the Promotional base to pretty much its own talent and that found through mergers with Florida, Central States, and UWF MidSouth.🤔🎤🤼♂️B.W.
