If you don't understand the system of the tournament Levy, maybe chess isn't your thing. Or is it because you're jealous Carlsen / and Hikaru is a mediocre chessplayer, and only a Twitch-showman❓
No I think he does understand it, but much like everyone else no one has the fucking faintest clue why they did it or what in the world it adds to the normal tournament experience
Please please keep making recaps, especially when there’s chess like this. Enjoying your work Levy, and appreciate the piece of yourself it costs to do this on this scale.
@@Sinnegeiets Levy clearly grinds really hard to make this much content while also improving at chess for our amusement. Seems like a lot more work than the vast majority of people are willing to do.
would very much appreciate the continuing recaps. As long as the games are interesting, the results are not as important. Besides, even without the bonus points, I'm pretty sure that Magnus at #1 and Wesley at #2 isn't a hard thing to predict...
I like the recaps. But I kind of only care about the most savage games. If our schedule reasons he wants to skip it... Fine. But if there's any particularly good games I'd love his insight. Plus I always follow MVL in tournaments.
@@ecooper7081 I love the slow positional games as much as I love the savage attacking games. One of the positional games I love most is Caruana v Tari in Norway 2020. Caruana sacced a pawn early on and just suffocated Tari. It's hard to see where Tari even made a mistake. But I love those kinds of games as well.

Even without the bonus points, Magnus has 7 points and leading
I want to add that, on chess RU-vid, Levy invented the whole-day recap and created the demand for it. We didn't even know we wanted it. This is how Levy blew up. Someone else will supply it if you stop. You don't understand the format? During classical recaps, you complain about all the draws! Levy, this is my meal time viewing. Sometimes beer is involved. I need this!
"There is something you'd call statics and dynamics, if you're below 2000 you don't need to know what that is, and 98% of my audience is below the rating of 2000, you don't need to know what that is. So basically I just said something that you don't even need to listen to. Welcome to my videos!" - Also Levy Rozman 2021
Levy can we expect a video soon about the nimzowitch-larsen attack opening. I really wanna try this out and there's no better yt than you in chess and your the best in explaining these stuff so plz make a video on it if possible
Hey levy You make my day everyday. Hoping that I see a title like "I became the 15th world champion!" or "I beat Magnus Carlsen". Hopeful of seeing you on the stage
hi noob(a person who dont play chess but comments on chess video)u know that it wont happen, but levy is special for us more than magnus even though he isnt world champion
Ikr. Like other successful chess commentary is mostly just explaining the position and commenting on the beauty of the tactics, while Levy treats the game like a fist fight in a back ally.
32:27 guys here you can see how his journey towards GM takes place, he’s beginning to look away from the screen to find tactics/mate in this case, it’s gonna take a long time before he stares at the ceiling but we’re getting there
@@fuoco7594 Do you not thank the waiter? Do you not thank the people helping you at the store? Just because someone is getting paid doesn't mean their work shouldn't be appreciated.
The way you thank him people think he does it for free. I mean he is the biggest chess channel. Its basic requirement of every big chess channel to bring quantity and quality content otherwise he wouldnt have more than 1 million subs.
i really liked this style. it's just like happening live between magnus vs memedyarov and you made these games so intense it was so exciting

To everyone: Be aware that even if there was NO bonus points ( which makes sense as Carlsen won 3 , Wesley won 3 tournaments so there has to be advantage ) Magnus is still leading with 7 points without bonus points.
Recaps, opening/tactics, and your GM training videos are my favorite content from you Levi! Guess the Elo and long-form streams for title Tuesday type of events are fun and are probably the next best IMO. Less of the historical games.
I do appreciate the recaps. Watching them live takes too long, and I lack understanding to get much out of the eval bar moving around. When you point out crazy computer ideas that people shouldn't be expected to see, it helps me get a feel for how the game is actually going compared to what the eval bar would say.
I love the recaps, would definitely appreciate if u kept doing them. For your stronger viewers, a lot of your series like guess the Elo and rating climbs are mostly entertainment, but I learn quite a bit from the recaps.
PLEASE make more of these. Thats just some wild but very unique and fun games which are very rare on the tournaments with the players of the highest level
I adore the recaps, it makes me feel more involved in GM-level play :) it was a great idea to have Carlsen vs. Shakh be the focal point, it's fresh and exciting!
"it makes me feel more involved in GM-level play". Without people like Levy, well he's one of a kind, but the idea is there really is no reason to broadcast GM games to anyone except other GM's. You and me might as well not watch the Twitch broadcast of the world championship and just wait for Levy's take. Hope he does recaps at least of the wins.
Those four draws by repetition felt like they were splitting cookies in half and sharing around tea peacefully, while all the others were having a blood bath in the battlefield
In the Shak Dilworth variation Stockfish actually gives ... Bg4 Ne3 Be6 as the top line somewhat bafflingly .... it thinks white's bishop belongs on e3 and forcing Ne3 is a concession. 🤔
The format is exactly (well, almost) like soccer: 0 point if you lose, 1 if you draw, 3 if you win. I think it makes sense! What doesn't, however, is the bonus points. You could do it soccer style and use the bonus points at the end to decide a winner if there is a tie (bonus points would be like goal difference in soccer)
You are telling me that a 28-hundred rated player hung a piece on move 13? 28-hundred player hung a piece on move 13? This guy is 2855 and he hung a piece on move 13, 282855 and he hung a piece on move 13! Didn't see the bishop's threat, could've seen the bishop threat, didn't see the rook takes knight, could've seen this tactic, this man had 15 minutes to find the best moooveeee, didn't even see it...
I love the recaps of this event, with the weird format the games are just amazing!! And even though noone understands the format the chess is the same so atleast for me, I'd love the recaps to continue💛
Very confused on which this was a hockey video or a chess video when I clicked it. It has the Vancouver Canucks #29 (sorry canucks fans idk who that is) and my team, the Edmonton Oilers #20 Slater Koekkoek
Levy: Don't get winning positions against the world champion. You're probably going to get nervous Me: Ah, yes, that's what I was doing wrong. Thanks for fixing my chess Levy
The only real chess related fight I've seen is Nakamura vs Hansen. Which ended with Hikaru resigning after being strangled on a lawn in front of Yasser and Fabi.
How did they convince the players to participate even if they have virtually no chance of winning ? Were there contractually obligated to play or are they paid wether they get first or last ? I dont understand
Wait I've always thought the hanging pawn structure was when two pawns were directly adjacent + isolated together, have I been mistaken this whole time?
I honestly expect a lot of draws in GM games. Unless you see preparation based off anticipating opponents moves, and then dropping a mountain of computer moves to crash through
When people talk about beautiful chess games they often talk about some long high accuracy game going deep into theory. When I talk about beautiful chess games I talk about that 2nd last game where pieces coordinated, attacked, and travelled across the board in all directions even deep into enemy territory without blundering for that many moves. I wish that game would've lasted longer.
