No it was armageddon as you can see in the beginning of the game, white gets 10 mins but black gets 8 (which I think is unfair, it should be 10 vs 7), but to compensate black gets draw odds which means a draw is basically a win for black. Even if they drew the game, Magnus will lose because draw=loss in armageddon as white.

The players bid a time between 0 and 10 minutes, and the lower one gets the black pieces with the time they chose. There's nothing unfair

Because it was an Armageddon game. The draw for white means losing for white... So it doesn't really matter.

Excellent clickbait title! 😆 "Wait a minute - did Carlsen resign even though he had a good chance of getting a draw?" Lol, no he didn't. He resigned because if he didn't win - and there was no chance he would at that point - it wouldn't matter what the result of the game would be.
