HAL had no obligation to make an entirely new side mode because even without it the remake would’ve succeeded. But the fact that they still did and created this absolute masterpiece should be more appreciated!! This whole game made me so emotional as someone who’s loved it very dearly since she was 8 years old. New content like this made me feel like I was experiencing the game for the first time ever, and I can’t praise a game any higher than that. I can’t even begin to tell you how invested I was in Magolor’s character development and his journey, it seriously got me tearing up at a few points, especially while listening to the soundtrack. I freaking love this little devilish egg so much, dude. And I LOVE this whole game to pieces. 😭💖

Magolor Epilogue is just... its just amazing. It really makes Magolor go from "that cool twist villain guy from return to dreamland" to "a redeemed hero fighting his way out of the darkness." Magolor was already my favorite Kirby character, but now he's a whole other level of amazing. And he's not your traditional hero either... he has this self-centered arrogance to him (as you can tell by how he's self aware of his trickiness, and names everything after himself) but he's not heartless either. He has good intentions and wants to do the right thing (especially after the Master Crown incident). In a way its relatable, because almost human-being on the planet is at least somewhat self-absorbed (just not always in a bad way).
I don't know how I haven't gotten tired of the leitmotifs related to a lot of songs in this epilogue, especially Magalor's theme. It feels like you here "bum bum bum ba-dum bum, bum ba-dum bumbum" (go into the Lor Starcutter and listen to the first few notes for anyone confused) everywhere and it never get old (it does get stuck in your head though I can't stop myself from humming it periodically). The mode itself was fantastic. The combo system is super fun and really incentivises you to string together as many hits as possible. It's really cool to see Magolor's gradual progression as well as his charming voice lines for each skill. Overall a great use of the multiple hours I spent trying to platinum everything. I can't wait to discuss more as more people get a chance to play the game.
I would love to see your theory for why Elfilis might be one of the Heros of Yor. I always believed they were imprisoned and experimented on by the Ancients so there would be no way for him to be around when Void Termina was sealed.
The fact that Fecto Elfilis has a totally random magical spear is what sells it for me. Why does he have it? Where did it come from? That is never explained. It can't have come from the beast pack, and generally speaking, most Kirby final bosses don't come with random weapons for no reason. He is also similar in physique to Galacta Knight, being a planetary threat and angelic warrior entity, although seemingly less powerful on the physical side in exchange for impressive psychic (or Dream matter if you want to incorporate void into this) capabilities. They are both so strong that they are both able to tear holes in the very fabric of spacetime itself. He is also similar to Galacta Knight in that Morpho Knight absorbed him. It's a bit too early to call this a connection, but it is interesting that the only two Kirby characters the butterfly has absorbed were both ancient warriors sealed off by the ancients for very long periods of time. As for the timeline, based on Hyness' dialogue, it goes as follows: 1) Void is summoned for the first known time as a destroyer of worlds, and 4 heroes come to seal him away using the heart spears. They are able to freely summon and manipulate them, as shown by Aeon Hero dark (and even Fecto Elfilis since he seems to have the same summoning ability). 2) Lost to aeons unknown, the only record of this event is kept in the book of legend by an author that predates even the ancients. 3) Over time, the four heroes are corrupted by...something. We can assume it was most likely the jamba heart they sealed away. They begin conquering or blowing up planets across the multiverse. Fecto Elfilis' next target is the Ancient's home planet, HAL's version of Earth (not Shiver Star). 4) The ancients are able to subdue Fecto Elfilis against all odds and begin experimentation on him, gaining access to the power of Void, initially in the form of interdimensional travel, then later on being able to create Void-powered artefacts like the fountain and clockwork stars. They leave their home world and set out into the multiverse, leaving Fecto Elfilis broken and imprisoned forever. 5) The ancients eventually differentiate into the Halcandrans and Jambandrans...OR the ancients meet up with the Jambandran race, and the two become one civilization. (Just read the wiki to see which one was more likely; Seems like the ancients actually met the Jambandrans and became friends for a time!) 6) Hyness mentioned a Galactic Crisis in Star Allies. This probably refers to Galacta Knight or to Mistelteinn (or the crown going haywire), as we have become aware. The Jambandrans probably helped the Halcandrans to forge it, since it is the artefact with the closest ties to Dark Matter of the bunch. If the crisis refers to Galacta Knight, then you know the rest of the story. The Jambandrans stop Galacta Knight and seal him away forever. Now 2 of the 4 heroes we know have been sealed away, never completely destroyed. The Jambandrans then get sealed by the Halcandrans themselves, potentially just because they had the power to seal Galacta Knight...AND because they helped to build the dreaded crown. 7) Mistelteinn destroys everything. All the Halcandrans perish to the master crown's first host. Halcandra falls to ruin, and the ancients disappear without a trace. The crown apparently has many more hosts after this first fall, probably bringing annihilation to other worlds before the hosts are fully consumed by the crown. 4 angelic Landia dragons eventually claim the crown and keep it in check for aeons until Kirby defeat them and Magolor becomes its new host. 8) The Jambandrans remain at the edge of the galaxy, still surviving but completely isolated. It is unclear at what point Hyness saved the mage sisters. He finds the book of legend written all those aeons ago, unknown to both the Halcandrans and Jambandrans. He learns of the original fight against Void, and how to resummon him. (Apparently from a Japanese source, he receives a vision from Void to summon him back as well). Thus he begins his plans, slowly devolving to madness. 9) Magolor finds a dusty old tome containing information on Halcandra, but not the whole story (hence why he doesn't know about the ancients' true fate) 10) The events of Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Star Allies and Forgotten Land then play out in that order. Not that I don't appreciate the amount of work HAL already does for the Kirby franchise, but even when I was young I was surprised to find that there are no full games that doesn't feature Kirby as the main character. You are telling me we have had 3 Meta Knightmares where you play as the most popular not-Kirby character, which has it's own point based mechanics, and you never jumped to make it into a full game? On one hand, I respect Kumazaki's commitment to maintaining the integrity of what a Kirby game is but on the otherhand... When I was a kid I always wanted to play a full Meta Knight game, After playing Magolor Epilogue I'm like "GIVE EVERYONE A GAME!!" We love these characters so much and HAL Labs have very talented people on their staff, it would be amazing to see the franchise branch out and experiment with different genres.
I think the reason why they haven’t done this is simply because none of the characters have the same name recognition as Kirby. The name sells, and so it’s far more profitable to just give the other characters side modes under a main game, unfortunately 😞
KSA fan here, it is just so good I think, it truly was the final of an area and just everything felt and has been work like it was the end of all kirby, which is even more logical with the lore.
i’m really glad we have vids like this that show off magalor epilogue, i was always worried it wouldn’t get the attention it deserved due to it being something you unlock after the main story, so this is really great too see! rad video dude. oh and that ishowspeed dark matter edit absolutely killed me

Ya know, watching this made Magolor Epilogue kinda remind me of Bowser’s Fury, in a way. A series tries to experiment with new ways of playing by making a smaller, experimental title and implanting it in either a port or a remake of an older title
@@ToxicPea Bowser’s Fury is great too btw. I was a bit hesitant to get Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe, since not much was added (aside from Magolor Epilogue), but now I have plans to get it (e v e n t u a l l y)
I played through the Epilogue with my sister, and it was indeed a great multiplayer experience! It allows for more cooperation trying to not get hit and splitting up to have larger combos, as well as strategizing what moves should be upgraded and when!
They didn’t have to, but did it anyways, this is like Heroes in Another Dimension prequel. (As in RtDL and DX come first, Mago Epilogue next, and the SA.)

Ksa underated my review so ksa is very easy but the sword or hammer gets buffs from different Allies WITCH IS THE BEST OF THE BEST GIMMICK and the soul melter thing IS SUPER HARD can’t get kirb yet because it’s too hard anyways this is one of my theories the reason why magoland is a different universe is because it takes place in the Kirby clash universe
the gem apple tree is the apple thing in mago epilogue and I think it’s the reason why the Kirby statue is in the town when he shouldn’t know Kirby but he does know Kirby and mago land and Kirby clash are a different universe so it just connects perfectly
Fun fact: The reason why magolor has yellow on his outfit is because it's the color of betrayal in the bible. This information comes from the Kirby Art and Style collection showing a concept art of magolor that's purple with yellow.

I mean I feel like I did become Magolor in my first play through, it felt like him and I were on the same brainwaves, like when I was fighting the boss of level 4 and I had a beam attack (my phone recommended attack after I typed beam I think I’ve been here too long) ready to go and my exact words were “ok just gotta wait for them to line up- oh there we go there we go!” Excellent video Tox’ Pea! I think that pizza tower is better, but thats because A: I have a bias for wario games B: I just like the idea of having to return to the beginning of a stage at the end of every level. C: I can beat the $#@! out of enemys For me personally I felt like there wasn't a bad level in pizza tower. Magolors epilogue was also like that but it wasn't as faster paced. I'll give magolors epilogue like a 8 or 9/10, however pizza tower is a 10/10

I got the game personally the game is perfect considering that I never actually owned this game in the Wii sadly though but I can agree that his game is worth getting since of magalor epilogue and that there's LOTS of modes as well and there's a TRUE 100% but that's for later and also might be a spoiler because it has to do something with a game so click that read more button if you want to know! (Really just my opinion but if you want to be extra careful here is my warning) In the game the lore all adds up and ngl its pretty NEAT! the timelines of the game will make sense and heres the spoiler part the timeline has to do with a game you might be familiar with (just a hint) ;)

As a kirby star allies fan i will NOT stand for that intro slander, star allies is the best game imo and i will die to this hill to defend said opinion ( being a bit more serious, great review, really enjoyed it! )
Forgotten land introduced the weapon shop as updating system and star coins as currency. Magolor's Epilogue, while applying both of them to the gameplay, added the combo system as an alternative way to gain points. I feel like Hal is trying to build something big and is experimenting and adding new elements. I mean, a well-designed updating/shopping system, doesn't that sound like something that comes from a Metroidvania game or an open world game?
The official trailer of Epilogue specially emphasized how the order of updating is up to the player. It's very likely that this is going to be a trend of future Kirby games, which I would definitely love.
Ah yes, I forgot about the shopping system, which in a sense is quite similar to a skill tree! FINAL BOSS OF YOUR WALLET AND BRINGER OF ALL MICROTRANSACTIONS! Way to point that out my dude!
I have a few theories on the Master Crown and how it relates to Void Termina 1. The Master Crown was created by Void Termina hence it enhancing Magalors evil and Dragos good since Void changes depending on whether it encounters evil or good energy. Just like how Void changes when it encounter evil or good energy. So the multiversal power of the Master Crown is just a fraction of Void Terminas power. So how powerful were the warriors that sealed him? 2. The Master Crown used by one of the 4 warriors of Yor that defeated Void Termina or was one of the warriors because it is sentient. We see Void Termina's true form is pretty much just a floating sphere. So all the weapons, and even it's body were just copies of abilities of the Heroes of Yor. Since it uses the Master Crown in it's attacks it could be a copy of something one of the Heros used.
SPOILERS FOR RETURN TO DREAMLAND AND MAGOLOR EPILOGUE I’ve seen people saying the the Kirby Clash games have become canon with Magolor being sent to the Dream Kingdom but this is false because at the beginning of (one of) the Kirby Clash games it says something along the line of it being in a different universe and connecting the dots leads you to Magolor was sent to a different universe. Timeline Return to Dreamland -> Magolor Fight -> Magolor sent to Another Dimension -> Events of Magolor Epilogue -> Magolor jumps through the rift into another universe known as the Dream Kingdom causing a timeline split where the original/canon universe continues without Magolor’s presence I don’t know what this says about Dream Friends in Star Allies but what my current theory is is that the rod you use to summon Dream Friends uses Kirby’s memories to manifest “illusions” of past characters without teleporting the original character away from their world (an example is Dark Meta Knight)
An interesting theory! However I want to clarify that although the dream kingdom is an alternative reality to the main one, that still makes it and Super Kirby Clash “canon,” as we now know that these dimensions are existing at the same time, and travel between them is possible. Magolor becoming the shopkeeper remains canon even if he is in the alternate timeline, and as such, the events and reality that he now finds himself in are also canon, although the f course, these events don’t seem to effect any of the characters in the main universe. And as for the dream friends, I do believe that Kirby summons the real versions of his old allies and enemies. We can see their illusory versions in the final battle, much like how Forgo Soul was able to summon its own phantoms. Magolor is thus able to return home this way.
I will be open to the other side of the theory but I see a bit of flaws in your comment. First of all, yes the Dream Kingdom is an alternate universe and Magolor Epilogue makes it so the Kirby Clash game do take place at the same time as everything after the events of Return to Dreamland, but I don’t believe that there is travel between the Dream Kingdom and the canon timeline. Although Merry Magoland is clearly stated to be a different universe and the canon Kirby is able to get there just on a warp star, that does leave some questions but it doesn’t outright confirm that Kirby and others can go to the Dream Kingdom. While Magolor DOES become the shopkeeper and that IS canon, it’s canon to the Kirby Clash Universe and partially the canon universe but once Magolor becomes the shopkeeper, that’s where the original Magolor’s canon story ends. So anything shopkeeper Magolor does is canon to the Kirby Clash universe and doesn’t affect the original timeline. And assuming that the Dream Rod does summon the original character, that wouldn’t explain why Magolor has his original color scheme and not the Kirby Clash one. Although you could argue that the developers didn’t think that far ahead or Magolor Epilogue wasn’t even an idea yet so they couldn’t have changed that.
@@Turtleking1728 In Super Kirby Clash, by helping Magolor by giving him enough apples and upgrading a lot of gear, he gets enough money to once again dawn his blue robes and change up the look of his shoppe. Unfortunately this is his evil monologue joke cutscene and not him thanking Kirby for helping him get some new garbs. @@ToxicPea Ok I can admit I did not know that you could pay Magolor so he could get his original design which does put holes to my Dream Rod theory. The rift that appears when Magolor defeats the Master Crown might be like Dragonball where characters fight and so much energy is happening right there that a portal appears that would send them somewhere else. Although I’m not super informed in Dragonball stuff so I might be wrong but the energy portal theory might still work with the events of the game. And assuming this theory is how the universal rifts work, that would make it almost impossible for canon Kirby to travel to the Dream Kingdom. But you might ask, “Then how does Kirby get to Magoland?” Simple, Magoland is seen near Dreamland in the background of stage 5-1 meaning it’s close by or closer than the Dream Kingdom’s universe. Furthermore, at the beginning of both Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash it states, “a faraway realm” meaning that access to the Dream Kingdom would be difficult.

I chose the color green because the crown's central gem glows a very deep green hue. It also allows the logo coloring to match the colors of the Aerogree, Pyred and Poseiblu dimensions respectively

What the epilogue showed me is that the Magolor from the Main Kirby timeliness is actually dead. The magolor from the epilogue and thus magolor that currently exist isn't the magolor kirby met in Canon but became Canon. We all thought Galacta Knoght (as morpho) did it first. Boy we're we wrong
You have a point Majin! Never thought of it like that, although it could be argued that the non-canon sidemode timelines aren’t real unlike the (SPOILER), which was literally just confirmed to be a very real timeline.
@@ToxicPea it's just that even when the magolor epilogue trailer dropped, I could fathom just how magolor would disintegrate in the main game only ro be completely fine as he travelled between dimensions. I came up with the theory that bosses in the true arena are actually canon to a separate timeline where kirby fought them in rose forms during the main adventure, but of course I have nothing to back me up.
Some games are slow but have great mechanics and storytelling. Some are fast and are more about the action. But what happens if you take the slowness of the first half and combine that with platforming and action? You get Kirby and (Spoiler alert) *It won’t work* which was probably why Kirby star Allie’s was a flop. It was also stupidly easy which not a lot of people like. I’m glad they fixed that in magolors epilogue.

Great video I can agree that magalor epilogue is an amazing part of KRTDD. The rpg like aesthetic with magic points is super fun and replaying the levels again to get platinum medals is super fun. the magolor epilogue is easily the best part of the remake, playing as him is just so fun and smooth even grinding out all of the levels and bosses for platinum (something i usually hate in games) is done super well and is very fun something i noticed is that between the main game and epilogue, enemies actually stick around longer after they reach 0 hp to help combo and the combos are a highlight here, im terrible at fighting games and all of the inputs required to play, but performing combos in the epilogue is just plain fun and it's made better by the fact that a lot of magolor's moves go together extremely well the moves themselves are another highlight, magolor has so many good moves that are very unique and unlocking them all through natural progression is so good and it feels really rewarding, even when you can barely float and don't really have many strong attacks it still manages to feel good and not too uphill getting platinum on bosses actually forces you to sit and think, "how do i put together a long enough combo?" it also means you have to play well, it strikes that balance of not too easy, but also not too difficult and grindy tldr, i kind of wish we got the magolor epilogue as an entire separate game and it has my highest commendations
Well said OP! Unfortunately it looks like HAL and Nintendo will be following a similar marketing strategy to Bowser’s fury, where they’ll make the submode an extra part of a 60$ game.
