Squad - Passeriformes, family Corvidae, genus of magpies. The bird is all beauty, the tail with a green tint, the head is black, the bottom is white, but these are the magpies that we are used to seeing in our backyard or in the yard near the house. There are also truly unique beauties.
Indian forty-wood, ' red billed blue magpie, yellow-NIB azure, Ceylon azure and azure so thick-billed last in the list, it became the symbol of Taiwan and this is no achievement. Not every bird deserves such honors. Despite the fact that systematically these species are not always closely related to each other, all magpies have a similar external structure, so they are united under one name. Among the corvids closest to him jays and crows.
The appearance of magpies is very specific, so that they can easily be recognized even by an inexperienced person in ornithology. Among the representatives of the vranov magpies occupy an intermediate position: they are larger than jays, but smaller than crows. Their body is streamlined, the beak is sharp, straight, with a barely noticeable bend of the upper mandible, the wings are of medium length, the legs are thin and relatively long. A long tail with a blunt-cut end adds grace to them. Its shape may vary. In most species, the tail has the same length throughout, in the forest magpies it is noticeably expanded towards the end, and in the rocket-tailed magpie it has a peculiar tuft on the sides. Sexual dimorphism is not expressed in them and who does not know what it is, this suggests that males and females are almost indistinguishable from each other outwardly.
The magpies ' habitats are concentrated in the Northern Hemisphere, where they are found on all continents - in Eurasia, Africa and North America. Especially extensive is the range of the common magpie, which covers the entire temperate zone of Eurasia and for some reason, except for the Far East, although it seems to me that the most curious birds fly there. The ranges of other species are much narrower, for example, the California magpie lives only on the California Peninsula, and the thick-billed azure magpie lives only in Taiwan. The range of the blue magpie is quite a mystery. It consists of two sections: one covers just the same Far East-Korea, China, Japan, Primorye, northern Mongolia, and the second is located... in the far west of Europe, in Spain, and Portugal!
While scientists can't understand how populations of the same species were isolated at a distance of many thousand miles, perhaps on the borders custom forty of the ordinary and they have no right Aracinovo passport, and can they have on the agenda more important questions that they will find the answers.
