I don't suppose you still have the stock handguard sitting on a shelf? My stock hand guard no longer has the sling attachment, the threaded insert was missing when I got it. I have a quad rail so I could put a sling swivel on it, but I actually like the feel of the stock handguard better. So far the only one I found is in a Saiga group........in Russia.
I had a quad rail that bolted to the barrel, it absolutely wrecked my guns accuracy. I'm a little worried that they chose to just go barrel clamps on this setup.
NIce ! . 1] I have a 5.45; does the Magpul front guard help better with heat compared to the original front handguard, and is it lighter ? 2] Does the barrel clamp, effect accuracy ? 3] I'm assuming you don't need a front handguard retaining bracket. 4] Link to the pistol grip plate that allows a single point sling. - Thank you
Handles heat better, clamp has not really affected the accuracy noticeably, don't need the hand guard retainer if it's a saiga like mine because i didn't use the upper part. Echo93 is the company that makes the single point sling attachment.
The screw that goes through the sling mount on my Saiga 223 sporter seems like it's welded...That sucker won't come off to save my life, I'm about to strip out the screw. Was yours tough to get off? I'm thinking heat or just slather it with penetrating oil...Thoughts? thanks
I'm trying to fit the folding stock on my Saiga, but it wont seat flush to the frame of the AK. That long screw creates a gap between the frame and the stock because it hits the back of the trigger when sliding the stock into the frame. Did you cut off the end of your long screw?
I know that some stocks require a trigger conversion in order for them to fit right. You can do the conversion yourself or take it to a gunsmith to have it done. Carolina Shooters supply have the conversion kits on their website. Good luck with your project and thanks for supporting the 2nd Amendment.
You'd have to remove your hand guard retainer, a permanent modification. If you ever wanted to put stock furniture back on the rifle you'd have to remove all your barrel components and reinstall a hand guard retainer.
