Thank you. The magnets will still align. You just won't have anything charging if your cigarette lighter does not work 24/7. Most modern cars only have a cigarette Port that only functions when the car is running.

@@RFMike wrong. If you turn your key on, your entire accessory panel turns on. The car does need to be running for any of this to work.
