Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
For me she is the only Gospel singer that can sing for me. I respect the others. However there is something about her voice and her delivery. Love me some Mahalia Jackson. She left a great legacy for us to enjoy. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I loved Mahalia she died when I was 8 yrs old. I want to dedicate this song to all on the front lines and all who lost love ones.her songs are glorious
I also loved Mahalia! I was 6 yrs. old when she passed. I was so sad I would not see her on television anymore! I love this song so much, because it reminds me of my parents! She was the greatest Gospel artist, in my opinion!
Thou her songs may seem simple, they were actually very deep & heart-felt. If you don't know of Mahalia, you need to watch documentaries about her. She suffered a lot of pain in her early years. As a result, she delivers her heart over; to those who listen to her.
I was paralyzed in bed last year and I heard Jesus say out loud to me - If you believe in me get up and walk💜🕊💜 I got up and not only walked but went for a walk outside. Praise God!!!!! GOD IS ALWAYS WORKING!!!! ✌💜🕊🙏
When I was a very little boy, I was taken to Greater St. Stephens Baptist Church and heard Mahalia Jackson. I never how blessed and be appreciative of the heritage I was raised with being from New Orleans. I’m certainly missing it right now.
I am Guatemalan! But i heard Mahalia Jackson's music for the first time while i was living and working in Rhode Island and wow, that was in 2019!!! To this day i still listen to her because she was very close to the Lord. Let us continue to make music onto our Heavenly Father, hallelujah! Believe me, worshipping the Father fixes everything.
Purely from the Heart and Soul! Reaching the Heart and Soul! I miss those days real honest music! I miss my Mom! And so many others that I knew have all past away! Young and old please take time to savor the precious moments and memorys! They are all gone too soon and will never return! The most insignificant events that seemed unimportant can end up being most important as we age! Everyone Take Care!
I can honestly say after crying each time I hear this son, gospel music does rescue/ souls out here. My dad hadn't been to church since young adulthood or was very spiritual at all. But after learning he was sick and terminally ill (found later it was pancreatic cancer) he listened to this song daily and the remake with Tramaine Hawkins. My grandmother his mother COOKIE listened to this song OFTEN Music heals and SAVES people/souls daily!!!!;-P It's been almost 3 years since he's passed, I still get emotional to this day... I miss you dad and cancer sucks!
I fell in 💘; for the 1st time @ the age of 51. This hymn is the reason why. When I heard it; it took me to the days of "the seasoned folks". My mother is blessed beyond earthly measure. She is 79 years old. She has been through so much "BUT GOD"! The...wanted to take me out of this world; 20 years ago on my mother's birthday. "Mercy said NO.. I'M NOT GONNA let you go. There is nothing; like the power of a praying mother.
I love this lady ❤️💙😍 YES I FOUND THE ANSWER WHEN I FOUND GOD AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN THE SAME... I LOVE YOU DEAR LORD, MY HEAVENLY FATHER ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💓
The great, late Mahalia Jackson, she sings with power. I remember her music playing through out the house as a lil girl growing up. The powerful voice lifted the hearts of every soul in the house and if the window was open the neighborhood rejoiced as well. God bless your perfect soul Mahalia.
Mahalia was told that she would make a great Blues singer, In response she said. “ I could never sing the Blues. The Blues are songs of A PEOPLE depressed, in a pit yelling for help. Whilst my Spirituals sing of HOPE, FAITH & HAPPINESS.” JJJ
Mahalia was a Greatest gospso singer, but she clearly did not know much about the blues! I totally disagree with her statement that "the blues is about people singing from depression and despair. And then she is quoted as saying that gospel music is about hope for tomorrow" etc. Well, while she seemed to separate gospel and blues by pitting gospel music above blues, I highly disagree with her. Gospel and Blues go hand in hand. Both are from the black experience and the hard times of the Jim Crow South. They were born out of depression and suppression of black people, who ate the greatest and most resilient humans who ever walked the earth! The Original People! If only they collectively knew The greatness from whence they came from! They are Waking Up! And will Rise Up to take thier rightful places at the Appointed Time! Hotep!
The poor of any colour, especially *female* poor, are the suppressed & resilient, it's in all races. The (white) 'undesirable' poor of 18thC UK were kidnapped off streets, shipped to US never to see family again, sold as slaves; it's what happens when people ignore Jesus' command of agapē for all, choose money as 'god' instead, act like demons.
Im crying while listening this wonderful music...i dont know where i go right now..i feel alone and empty..but this songs reminds me how great our God is...You are more powerful than everything..
Love Ms .Jackson !! BEST GOSPEL SINGER EVER !!!! AND ALL SHE NEEDED was a good piano player !!! just recently found out that Dinah Shore was black or half black..Doesn’t detract from her talent..she was a beautiful woman/singer/entertainer...t
I am about as non-religious as one can be, but I am still incredibly moved by Mahalia's singing. It's not just her voice, unmatched to this day, but also her stage presence and intensity. She's my favorite singer, far and away. I kinda wish I were at least a little religious so I could get even more out of Mahalia Jackson's music. Without religion, Mahalia clearly could not have done what she did and could not have been who she was. And without religion, I probably cannot fully appreciate her music. I guess I went to the wrong kind of church when I was little, a somber and depressing affair, as I recall, with even more depressing music.
Oh I love her and her singing! What a blessing to be able to listen to such a spirit filled song. My mother must have listened to her a lot because it's almost listening to my own mother. The soul, the spirit, she put into it!
This song is the perfect illustration of why I do not care for today’s so-called worship music - from the “Christian” rock (satanic) to pop/R&B songs that are categorized as gospel. I’ll take hymns and old school gospel any day over that mess. No need for a band or praise team. Just the hand of God touching one of his humble servants who truly desired to worship him and give him praise.
Sam cooke is my idol and the major influence for me to become a musician for 35 years and Sam's gospel days were phenomenal. But my god the voice on mahalia Jackson is incredible
I tried to post this on facebook and it was removed. What a memory and a witness this particular video is, especially with Dinah Shore introducing her. It recommends that you go to RU-vid to watch and doesn't show this song, but Precious Lord. Why can't I just put the address to RU-vid on my postings?
