I remember when all of American-style Christianity had this joyful, beautiful spirit (the 1960s). Boy, how far we have fallen. Now it's all about anger, money, political influence, and dividing people rather than bringing them together. Most of the best and brightest people have left the churches.
This is truly a "Great Woman," even as she sleeps in her grave. Why was she great, easily answered . .she was dedicated to her faith in God, and sang praises of conviction, and lived as an example of what she sang. She never saw herself as being separated from her praises to God. I hope what I'm about to say will not be misunderstood . . simply, she was not a Bobby Jones Gospel Show personality. She was not a "show," she was a traditional and godly woman who dressed and exemplified holiness
Il tiens chacun de nous dans ses mains... Riche, pauvre, blanc ou noir, le petit bébé ou la personne agée, le malade comme la personne en pleine santé, chacun de nous, Il prends soins de nous. Il suffit d'y croire !...
One thing I know is this people that were not alive when this Holy Woman of God walked the earth are amazed on RU-vid about this woman's voice. She was sold out to the LORD God Almighty.May Good Rest Her Gentle Soul.
My God, isn't this one of the best renditions of this song that we have heard? Yes it is! Ms Jackson must be enjoying what God had prepared for her for all her praising of Him.
Now this mamma knows how to praise the big man and enjoy doing so, I just wish more people would spend time to enjoy singing praise for him instead of preaching about what they think he'd say is wrong with this world ... he made it this way, trust his judgement and sing his praise!
Mahalia Jackson vocal, Gwen Lightner Cooper on Piano, Charles Clency on organ. Royal Albert Hall London England. Fabulous, Just Fabulous. From your spiritual son, JN
There will be never a singer like Ms Mahalia!! For this life, she left much, much, too early....! But when she entered heaven.....the angels must have cheared!!!
When stuff like Charlottesville, Ferguson, Baltimore happens I try to remember this song. And while God does have the whole world in his hands, we need to love each other.
This is one of my favorites. It makes me feel how close I am to God. The Lord is protecting us all times. It's a wonderful and sensational feeling to know that God has me covered at all times. It's a feeling like being in secret place with security.
One of my favorite songs from the time of being a little girl. If you don't know the words....remember "He Got The Whole World In His Hands". Yes....Lord of How Mighty He Is! I'm thankful even when I am discourage.....he still love me.
I used to spend hours with my head up to my folks big "Hi Fi" and listen to her albums for hours. I loved "The Old Rugged Cross". She sang it so sweet it would make me cry.
God did not create her voice...she did...she just sings...her voice was rich and powerful because she was and she believed....she sang about god...the powerful thing about god that you don't understand is that she doesn't create she rejoices....the world will be so much better without a god that creats
Jackson is so common a name... Don't you know that? Milt Jackson (jazz vibes). Colin Jackson (110 m hurdles for Great Britain, he was Olympic Champion) ; Ray Jackson, a Lindisfarne member, Joe Jackson... and many more !
Not sure if this account is still active but in this clip and another you have posted (Search My Heart). I'm looking for a song she performed and I want to say it was Amazing Grace if I'm not mistaken. If im correct this was at the Royal Albert Hall in 1969 maybe. If you could help me find the full recording or even just the Amazing Grace clip if that is what she performed that would be incredibly helpful. I've been searching for it for the longest and have had no luck.
