It is always a pleasure to listen to Mohana ragam. എത്ര കേട്ടാലും മതിവരാത്ത രാഗം. Well sung by Santhanam. But I am always reminded of Late Neyyattinkara sir whenever hear Nannupalimpa. 🙏🌹

Excellent by my Santhanam Mama ! Nannu paalimpa raagam: Mohanam 28 harikaambhoji janya Adi Talam Thyagarajar Krithi Legend has it that Walajapet Venkataramana Bhagavathar was carrying a beautiful picture of Sita Rama as his marriage gift for Thyagaraja's daughter. The Saint was apparently waiting for Sri. Venkataramanan to arrive so that he could lay his eyes on the picture and was so much distracted from even conducting the marriage rites. When Satguru saw the picture from a distance, he instantly composed this song as a tribute.. pallavi nanu pAlimpa naDaci vaccitivO nA prANanAtha Oh my Lord, You have come walking to take care of me. anupallavi vanaja nayana mOmunu jUcuTa jIvanamani nenaru nA manasu marmamu telisi Knowing my heart, knowing that my life's purpose is to gaze at your lotus eyed face, You have come. Charanam surapati nIla maNinibha tanuvutO nuramuna mutyapu sarula cayamutO karamuna shara kOdaNDa kAntitO dharani tanayatO tyAgarAjArcita Your body is shining like blue sapphire and you are adorned with a number of pearl garlands on your chest You are shining with bow and arrow in your arms. You have come with Goddess Sita the daughter of the Earth. You are the lord of Tyagaraja. Gist :- O Compassionate Lord! Have you trekked all the way to grace me? Lord of my life! The sole aim of my life is to be by your side, glancing at your charming face and seeking your gracious understanding; this intense longing of mine; have you trekked? O Lotus eye! How wonderfully you have presented yourself! With a frame lustrous with the blue radiance of a gem, with dusters of pearl garlands sporting on your bosom, the resplendent Kodanda bow adorning your hand with Sita devi; have you trekked? Additional translation by Krishna Pillalamarri: vanaja nayana mOmunu jUcuTa jIvanamani nenaru naa manasu marmamu telisi - lotus eyed face seeing my life consider my mind secret knowing (Knowing that the purpose of my whole life is to be looking at your face with lotus eyes) Raga Mohanam Janyam of 28th mela Hari Kambhoji. Aro: S R2 G3 P D2 S Av: S D2 P G3 R2 S This raga is the signature of Oriental Music. It existed in ancient Tamil music as the Mullai pann, and much of Kung Fu Panda's re-recording is based on this all-attractive scale known to us South Indians as Mohanam. The Hindustaniraga Bhup / Bhupali may be thought of as Mohanam's north-Indian counterpart. The notes that feature in this raga are Shadja, Chatusruti Rishabha, Antara Gandhara, Panchama, and Chatusruti Dhaivata. All of five notes, the harmonious notes being the Gandhara and the Dhaivata, this penatonic scale has the Panchama as it's significant anchoring note. The Classical beauty of this scale as a raga in itself unfolds when the characteristicgamakas are incorporated. Saint Thyagaraja has revelled in this raga and created several masterpieces including “Nannu Palimpa”, “Mohanarama.” While in “Ra ra Rajeevalochana Rama” Mysore Vasudevachar beseeches Lord Rama to save him, a concerned Arunachala Kavi questions Sri Ranganatha as to why he has decided to lie down in Srirangam in “En Palli Kondeerayya,” a famous piece that begins in Mohanam. Papanasam Sivan composed “Kapali” on Lord Kapaleeswara and “Narayana Divya Namam” both in beautiful Thamizh. One of the most famous Mohanam pieces in film musicis perhaps “Giridhara Gopala” from “Meera” in the soothing voice of M S Subbulakshmi. When she sings “nanda sukumara mana mohanaadhara” she lifts our soul along with the notes into an ethereal space. We can experience here the literal meaning of “Mohanam” - beauty.

I used to listen to Giridhara Gopala using old records in HMV Gramaphone when I was a kid! Also had a record of En Palli Kondeerayya!
