@@Countrysideboy247 heyyy if u r a real crawler enthusiast u should not moan for horsepower.. And u know very well the power and torque outputs are lowered to meet the stupid US regulations and emissions
I wonder if Mahindra will offer a street legal version for sale in the U.S. at some point. They have the legal right to do so and it’s obviously what the market wants. I know I would pop the cash for a brand new turbo diesel powered grass roots Willy’s in a heartbeat if it was street legal.
It'd be nice. I'm not sure all the legalities at this point, but I'm sure theres an underlying reason they are limited to the UTV classification at the moment. This featured Roxor is on the route of street legalization. The reflash is done, as well as the windshield, wipers, and turn signal. Insurance is the next obstacle (We're based in Texas so we'll see).
FCA has destroyed Jeep. I appreciate where Mahindra is going, but it's still not the same. Oh, how I wish that Jeep was an American company, and they could bring back the TJ.
Very true. Sadly FCA has taken so much of what made Jeep a Jeep out of the equation. I understand the federal regulations change a lot here and there, but there's a stark contrast in many things since FCA took over.
Absolutely. We like to use a high flow paint marker for stuff like this to avoid all the taping off and overall mess... plus it's a fraction of the time. We hit any exposed metal along the way.
@@PlatinumOffRoad I think the silver screws (holding the grill) were for the purpose of this video but black once would match the black grill much better
I'm just curious if they come with a 17 digit VIN that the DMV would recognize? If not I'm not sure how registration would work. Possibly home built or kit car?? These things are way cool! Finally a NEW utilitarian, purpose built vehicle, something Jeep hasn't been since the early 80s. And I think I read these sit on Dana 44 axles so even better start than an old AMC cj
You have probably figured it out by now, but these are sold as Side by Sides. You could only drove it on the road in states that allow side by sides on the road.
The 6 slot grille looks better. But dont ever forget, that Mahindra were the original Jeep Licensees in the Indian Subcontinent. And now, with the Roxor, irrespective of grille and all, they’ve quite literally brought the simplicity of a functional 4x4 vehicle, back to the US...
That would be better the idea is not to have a stick or something pierce the radiator , now we have electric fans , back in the day they required big slots for airflow...the seven slot grill fetish is stupid.

I seriously doubt this vehicle could ever be designed for American Street use. Emissions, Air Bag safety mandates, Crash worthiness, rollover issues with Suzuki’s and Jeep CJ-5 resulted in massive law suits that shut down any future multi-terrain capable fuel efficient small rigs ever again being allowed on pavement. Small communities in parts of the U.S. allow limited on road use. But here in California, even crossing a paved road to continue on a OHV trail can by letter of the law result in a citation. Such irritating rules, Young new-age environmental protection Police, laws so on is why I sold out any and all to do with burning gasoline in or on public lands. But, this Roxor would be a fun car to travel the forest in...
Indeed! Thanks for the support! We had to get caught up on other clients this last week, but will start back at the Roxor project this week. Videos are being produced along the way, so stay tuned!
The Ford GP(governments pigmy) had a nine-slot grill. Willy's were so clever, they have made it a 7-slot, and even registered it for ,jeep'. Mahindra did have a hard job, changing the grill, so it do not look like a jeep. Now you are so clever, as to make it a 6-slot, so it can look like a jeep again.
The chaps in America also seem to want to make the Roxor look like a Jeep…just like many new Thar owners in India want to make their Thars look like Jeeps….
Nice grilles! It'd be nice to get one imported and see if its a direct fit. The owner of the ROXOR just went with what was readily available and arrived within days for a great price.
That's still an ongoing debate with the client. At least for now, he's going to enjoy the contrasting look until he's ready for a change in appearance.
Ha more like he removed an ugly grill and replaced with a better option. If anything, it would be like putting a body kit or different grill on a 316i, not a badge change
The hat in this video was from the Jeep dealership. I imagine online is easier to find it. Make sure it's the official licensed Jeep one though. There's some janky ones out there Lol
Everything has its price! Lol check out our other social medias for a final outcome. Instagram: @platinum_off_road and Facebook: @platinumoffroad . Thanks for the support! We'll get a final video on the ROXOR once the client finally slows down from playing with it and gives us a chances to capture good video on the trails.
So Mahindra had a licensing right to build the old Willys corp Cj2a. Much of the Roxor is based on that vehicle with enhancements brought in from the later Jeep Cj's. The old Cj2a builds had 7 slot grilles, but eventually Willys became Jeep (AMC > Chrysler > FIAT) and over the years, the iconic 7 slot grille received a trademark protection. Issue is that US trademark laws stay in the US. So when you leave the US, laws get washed out and manufacturers will make whatever they want without legal hurdles.
@@PlatinumOffRoad Nope, Mahindra HAS a licensing agreement right now so it can rightfully make seven s;otted Mahinda thar grills in india. FCA sued Mahindra in US and US only, again for which Mahindra actually took approval of from FCA beforehand and THIS WAS WHERE MAHINDRA HAD TO SETTLE FOR NOT USING THOSE "7 SLOTS". US will never ever see a seven slotted Mahindra even if the design is 100% JEEP.
@@devduttlakra9577 I think thats what platinum was trying to explain. In the united states Mahindra wont have a right to make a seven slot grill. In Mahindra's original India plant, they can still produce it. Mahindra stepped into the WillysJeep production in the late 1940s with the CJ2A flat fender Jeeps. I imagine outside of united states boundaries they still have rights that American laws took away through the American legal system
@@terrydixon1520 I think it is not unforseeable in future that Mahindra will lose those grills in India too, because Mahindra people caved in when FCA made a move first and when Mahindra agreed to not use those "Jeep" branding anymore. I think they are trying to sell as many original Jeeps before FCA seus Mahindra India based on what happened in US. Nice Video!
Good thing its a hole saw where the metal shreds quickly fall to the ground. Usually drills wont sling metal shavings everywhere like a grinder or cutoff wheel, just from my experience
Don’t want to get into a pissing contest here, but a hole saw has a drill as a pilot centre which can easily shatter too. It was drummed into me as an apprentice many moons ago to protect your eyes at all costs! We’re all adults here though so ultimately make our own decisions. Happy New Year!
@@colind9638 its all good. What makes me cringe is watching the car builder tv shows on cable where no glasses or gloves are used with open cutoff wheels. And these shows are being recorded in world class shops. Yikes!
The wing comment makes no sense. The point of the video is to demonstrate what it takes to make the roxor front end more Jeep-like. You show up to a Wrangler meet with the roxor grille and youll get funny looks, at least this'll help you fit in more with typical americans.
"Oriental looking grill" ? That's just a odd statement, I don't know why you needed to throw the "O" word in there. Mahindra's Jeep's had 7 slot grills in 1947.
Im no world traveler, but I think the grill looked more Middle-Eastern than Orie[bleeeeep].. sorry Kylee almost said the "O Word"!!!! the overall appearance is certainly affected by that original grill.. it just looks cheap & cheesy, sorry.
It looks like the wierd designs daewoo, ssangyong, and hyundai were doing before the koreans figured out what the west liked or disliked visually and stopped trying to create their own signature design language. Something similar was seen in chinese cars. Thats the "oriental" vibe the shitty grill of the roxor gives off.
Oriental grille, huh?... You know what, you gotta thank those Orientals for keeping the Jeep spirit alive. I would keep that "Oriental" grille as my acknowledgement to Mahindra for doing a great job on the truck. It's Mahindra Roxor not a Jeep anymore.
@@BillyTpower yes they are made in India, which in the grand scheme of things, is still part of the Orient... But that's not the point: the point is, Mahindra Roxor deserves to be Mahindra Roxor, and be taken seriously not as a facsimile of classic Jeeps but as a brave car company trying break into the NA market where the shitboxes by Fiat Chrysler dominate. I hope Fiat Chrysler will learn their lesson and fix their major reliability issues and learn a thing or two from the simple engineering solutions by Mahindra
@@idworkhard Oh please, It's an overpriced off-road toy. A 2005 TJ Rubicon is a much better investment than this impractical side by side. Jeeps have always been about innovation in off-road and on-road technology. EVERY generation of Jeep vehicles reflects that: CJs, YJs, TJs, Cherokees and Grand Cherokees. I'm sure Roxors are fun to use, and can satisfy a niche market in the US. Thanks to FCA, Jeep will outsell 25 of 42 total brands here in the US. The new Gladiator truck will be unbelievable. Save the money, go for a 2st gen TJ Rubicon, and enjoy a real Jeep
I actually think itd be more modern hipster style. I guess Ive never had to revert to porn either, so idk what they use to rial up their viewers. Great input! Smh
