Hey! Whitch song will Australia send to Eurovision this year? Have they picked out one to represent for their country? Mine hasn't yet. The Norwegian final is March 2nd. And know that the Swedish is on March 9th. The Swedish semi final 3, is this Saturday on Svt1 channel.

Nomade2801 yes, Australia was very divided on our choice for ESC 2019.... half preferred Electric Fields - 2000 and whatever, and in the end the song the got a bit more of votes and won was... Kate Miller - Zero Gravity....

Once again Italy is sending a high quality song to the ESC. Everything about it is brilliant. Music, Lyrics - although it is not an easy listening song, it still is memorable. He is a good singer, too - partially his voice sounds like the young Eros Ramazotti. Perfect choice, Italy. And the song is only about 15 seconds above the allowed duration. Shouldn't be a problem, cutting this to 3 Minutes without destroying the song. 12 points

I`m Israeli and totally obsessed with this song and will be more than devastated if he doesn`t get to represent Italy here in ESC. This is by far the best song of any of those I`ve heard up to now. I`ve downloaded it on Spotify and I sooooooooo want this to be part of ESC. It will be such a shame if he is forced out by politicians who neither know nor care anything about Eurovision and music.

La Venda is likable and singable. I like the vibe especially when you're on road alone. But Soldi has depth. And it is like a layered song. What I mean is that there is always something new and inherently beautiful about the message and melody as you listen to it. Thus it endears as days go on. I'm sure, unlike Occidentalis Karma that lost steam because of Sobral, this song will be sustained up to the GF night. And the trophy. Well, there still more songs to come. Finger crossed.
@maxx6299
@maxx6299 5 лет назад
Hi Matt, you should know that our entries always have a deep meaning, and "Soldi" is not exception to the rule. The song is not about money in itself but, as others have commented, about Mahmood's actual lost relation with his alcohol-addicted father ("he drinks champagne during Ramadan..."). The two lines in arabic are reminiscent of the words that Mahmood's father was used to say to him... You never fail to recognize the value in italian songs (like last year's "Non mi avete fatto niente") and so I hope this is a sign that we could fare well in Tel Aviv.
@empress2423

@Dolu Symon Dolu Symon so the participiant didn't do hateful things(he especially loves Bilal), his song deserves good feedbacks because Soldi can be good in way that in the same time other songs are good too and that's true that the song has dual cultural artistic moments, they make the song better. Secondly, italian eurovision fans can be self-satisfied therefore their cultural music value and perhaps because Eurovision based on the Sanremo. And in any case, italian fans cannot be the reason for bad opinions about Mahmood/Soldi especially below such a subjective video.

Mamhood, the singer who participates for Italy, was born in Italy to Egyptian father and Italian mother. The song with which he participates with the title "Money" is dedicated to his father who is an alcoholic and left home but always came back from the family, tormenting he and his mother looking for "money" to buy alcohol
@fradipsbg1099

The song is about his father abandoning his mother and him when he was a child, and then coming back after his success solely to ask for money. The words in Arabic (something like “come here, my beloved little child”) are a sentence he recalls his father saying to him in the language. I‘m glad you like it :)

This song is amazing. I understand it's the time of the year when people will start spitting on it because it's cool but I don't care. I love this song since the first time I heard it. I enjoyed many songs from Sanremo but this one was always the one I could see do GREAT for the ESC. I truly thought Cristicchi would have won Sanremo (I'll always say this song is pure piece of art and heart) but Mahmood would go to the ESC. Mahmood winning oh gosh THANK THE ROMAN GODS! I'm freaking French and I'm so excited for Italy, it's weird, I'm more excited for them than for us. (I hope for the best for us). Mahmood has everything, a cool song, an amazing voice live, he's got that magnetic look, you can't ignore him, the originality and that freaking bridge in Arabic/Italian, arrr, for this whole season I keep asking for a song with a bridge that can bring something a little different and HE'S GOT IT! Aaaaah, Italy it's a 10/10 for me. It's my opinion, I get for other people it might not work but this song is perfect for the ESC and it freaking deserves to be in the top 5 if it doesn't win. I know we don't have the entire list of songs for the ESC 2019, something better might arrive at the moment it's my number 1 with an enormous gap before my second (Spain).

@stefanosantini9009
@stefanosantini9009 5 лет назад
SONG EXPLANATION from Pier Francesco Costa " First of all, Mahmood is born in Milan: his mother's from Sardinia, whereas his father has got Egyptian origins. The song talks about this last figure in a generally negative way, because Alessandro's father left the family when his son was still a little child. As he pointed out in a previous song, "Gioventù Bruciata", this man travelled around the world and had several other relationships and children (in fact, the introductive line of that track says: "What do they know of the violence that is closed within the walls of four marriages?"). But one day, suddendly he came back: this is the start point of "Soldi". In the first line, in fact, Alessandro seems to remember the mix of rage and fear that his mother felt by seeing her former partner again and reflects about a funny fact: this man didn't represent the classic model of Muslim man, as he "drank champagne while he was in Ramadan". Then, Alessandro shares his personal experience: his father looked like he desired to reunite the family, even by treating his son with confidence (as the Arab line, "Waladi Waladi Habibi Ta'aleena", that is, "Sweet boy, my sweet boy", underlines). But all those words ended up being a lie, as Mahmood points out in the Pre-Chorus and the chorus: "It's difficult to live in the world/When you lose your pride/Just in a second I've realised that, from me/You only want some money, money/Like I had had some money, money/Before, you talked to me until the night, night/You asked me 'How are things, how are things, how are things?'/Now, how are things? How are things? How are things?". So, the only purpose of Alessandro's father was obtaining money from his previous family in order to maintain his current one or doing his personal affairs. That's probably the reason why the song has a dark and syncopated tone. I like the fact you have been very balanced in expressing your opinions, but I have to say that I found the theme of this song more original that the ones by Ultimo and Il Volo, which were respectively based on the struggles we could have with the missing good times of a broken relationship and on the comparison between love and music. These two themes have been elaborated very well, but many artists have proposed them during the years... Moreover, no one in Italy had thought about the opportunity of put a hard story in his/her own family in a rather-pop song, yet... 😅 "

The lyrics speak about the relationship between his father and his life in the periphery. He speaks about his father who was always absent and that he wanted just one thing: soldi. This song isn't so superficial.

Hello there. I didn't watch the whole Sanremo contest but I keep listening this song on repeat since last week and can't get enough of it. If you want to understand the lyrics better see the video with lyrics version (I think you've already done that tho'). I did that and loved the song much more. I really enjoyed your reaction video and this would be the first time I'm sending you a comment. You are very objective and you seem to blend with this song's emotions. I like you and I wish you good luck in everything you do! Fingers crossed for Italy on the big ESC, since I first listened this song I am #teamItaly. Greetings from Romania! :*

I believe he is singing about the strained relationship with his father who was absent from his life, and about his mother raising him by herself.

Hey man, I'd like to point out two things. First "gioventu bruciata" is the song that he took to Sanremo Giovani and he actually won last year with that song Sanremo young. Second, it's not entirely about money, it's about he's dad who left when he was young, and he called him asking "how you do, how you do, how you do" (come va, come va, come va) but you wanted only Money money money. The arabic part says, Waladi Waladi Habibi Ta'aleena. Son, my son, come here. (he stated in an interview that his is one of the few memory of he's dad and arabic language). Such a deep meaning to this song, I hope eurovision won't misjudge and think it's all about SOLDI SOLDIIIIII

English translation It’s really hot down in the suburbs Mum don’t worry I’m on my way home You will be upset by a liar It looked like love to you, it was something else He’s drinking champagne during Ramadan On tv they are airing Jackie Chan He’s smoking shisha and asks me how I’m doing He asks me how I’m doing, doing, doing You already know how things are going, going, going I think faster to try to figure out If you’re going to fool me tomorrow I have no time to clear things up ‘Cause I finally found out what you are It hurts to be alive When you lose your pride You leave home out of the blue You, tell me if You only cared for the money, money As if you had any money, money Tell me whether you miss me or you don’t give a damn You used to ask me how I was doing, doing, doing Now how are things going, going, going What you’re supposed to say you haven’t said yet Betrayal is a bullet in your chest Keep all the compassion to yourself You keep lyin’ at home but you know she knows Sittin’ there she’ll be asking me Asking me how I’m doing, doing, doing You already know how things are going, going, going I think faster to try to figure out If you’re going to fool me tomorrow I have no time to clear things up ‘Cause I finally found out what you are It hurts to be alive When you lose your pride I figured it out in one second That you, from me You only wanted money, money As if I had any money, money Before you would talk to me till late You used to ask me how I’m doing, doing, doing Now how are things going, going, going My son, my son, darling, come over here You used to tell me while playing with me looking proud My son, my son, darling, it seemed real the desire, the desire to bring things back to what they were I didn’t ask for your money It hurts to be alive When you lose your pride You leave home out of the blue You, tell me if You only wanted money, money As if I had any money, money You leave the city without anybody knowing Yesterday you were here, where are you now, dad? Hello Matt, It was the best song. Since he was a newcomer, public did not voted for him. They have voted Ultimo who is last years newcomer. However, if they wont let him go, Italy could not win the trophy
@mythg5044

They didn't vote for him because he was a newcomer??? Should you be famous to win Sanremo? Also, didn't he participate in 2016?

i did'nt like the performance of Ultimo he sounded out of tune, the other song with opera singing was boring. Mahmood performance was the best of all 3. Btw i didn't know San Remo was marathon festival (9pm to 2 am)
@cyonidee
@cyonidee 5 лет назад
i voted for him! but well, as a total newcomer he didn't have a fan base to support him. he won solely on the power of the song and performances thank to the jury, who did a great job!
@mythg5044
@mythg5044 5 лет назад
@@cyonidee I'm normally against so-called prof. jurys, but if the popular vote tends to be won by fanbases who idolise the singer and not the song then I guess you need it. I tried watching Sanremo this year but the marathon format is the worst I have ever experienced! I mean, is it a song contest or one-man show for the singing host?!
@cyonidee
@cyonidee 5 лет назад
@@mythg5044 this is an unresolved matter, according to the rules the popular vote weight for the 50%, then 30%.to the Quality Jury, the 20% to the Journalists. this year the results were very unbalanced: Ultimo gained almost three times Mahmoods votes, the juries voted massively for mahmood. My personal opinion: in this case the jury was directed by Mauro Pagani. i don't know how well you know the italian music history, but mauro pagani is a milestone. Mahmoods performance was powerful, the music refreshing, it has a concept, this guy has a story to tell, and far more chances to resound internationally and at the same time to represent what actually "urban" italians listen to. Sanremo sounds to italian ears like a nostalgy festival for aged people or kids who grew up on talent shows (with exceptions). So well, i welcome the jury verdict :)

In Italy he wasn't really 'understood' if I can say that. Right now in our country we have some immigration issues, and this song, this artist is wrongfully put in between (not that it matters, but he's 100% Italian). I hope that Mahmood can have his revenge on that. He is strong, he has a beautiful voice, and this song is so powerful. Good luck to him.
