Hey Everyone! Huge thanks to everyone who has supported my channel so far and for helping to reach 1600 Subscribers! Just made a video to explain a little bit of how to use the Mahoe Minimax. We are also staring a timber frame car port, which is what this lumber we are milling is for. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you, I was actually counting the turns as you went to a 12-inch dept cut, now this video is to my favorite and watch later, I'm going to wear it out.

I like how that saw goes&brings back a board-seems efficient compared to bandsaw/edger setup-who is bald head guy?
@SharpeTimber

Yes its really easy on the operator and efficient with my time. Thats my dad.

Does one need to check blade overheating on deep cuts? Fantastic video!
@SharpeTimber
@SharpeTimber 7 месяцев назад
Not usually, I run water on the blade which keeps it cool. It can overheat possibly if you get pinched bad.

What are the largest cuts you can make? I'm sure it's just less than half the diameter of the blades, but I don't know that either.
@SharpeTimber
@SharpeTimber 6 месяцев назад
I can cut 8x12s, 8 inches on the horizontal blade and 12 deep on the vertical.

Do you do anything with the sawdust? Like make wood pellets for stoves?
@SharpeTimber
@SharpeTimber 8 месяцев назад
Not really, I have thought about making a pellet maker before. Would be a good use for it.

Total is 7m long, so about 23 ft.

Seems rather odd that the horizontal sizing dial couldn't be made larger so it wouldn't have to go around twice to get your 8" or 10" desired cut. I get that you usually only cutting 2 to 4 inches thick at a time. What is the kerf of the saw blades? It looks huge when you see the offset amount on the sizing dial.
@SharpeTimber
@SharpeTimber 8 месяцев назад
Yeah, I dont mind the dial being only 4 inches per rotation, I think it has to do with the gearing, runs with sprockets and heavy chain. Kerf is .322 inches I believe, I forget the exact number on the teeth. I tried narrower teeth once but the blade ends up getting hot and cutting really bad.

I think it's better this way; if they made the dial register twice as much distance, you'd either have to make it physically bigger, or you'd lose some of your precision...

Good question and information. How often do you change out blades? @@Tasarran

What do you do if you need repairs? Will NZ Mahoe take your call and give support, sent parts?
@SharpeTimber
@SharpeTimber 6 месяцев назад
I haven't needed any repairs so far, but yes I talk to them lots and there's no problem getting parts or support. I saw a mill they were doing a repair on, installing a new sawdust chute after 6000 hours. The drive train was still in really great condition.

That's great to hear! 6000 hours, wow! What a testament of the build quality of Mahoe mills! Hope one day to purchase one. Do you think it is worth paying extra for the Supermill, with hydraulics, compared to the Minimax? Not much horsepower increase and seems the hydraulics are minimal, though helpful. @@SharpeTimber
