This was peak podcasting. From talking about the “drive by” critique from Bill Simmons (which I heard yesterday and was hoping Nick would address) to great storytelling from US Open, and the expert analysis of the most annoying sports media personalities. Loved every second of this
Watching that KC vs. TB Super Bowl it was pretty clear to me that Pat was the best player on the field. He was making incredible throw after incredible throw but his receivers were dropping everything and Pat was running for his life because of the mismatch between his oline and TB defensive line. Even players on TB were in awe at his play. I’m surprised Nick didn’t bring this up.
Absolute trash. Joe Burrow had as bad of an o-line and went up against a much better D-line in the Super Bowl against the Rams. Except he didn’t get blown out. Mahomes needs a supporting cast to do anything
@@airgasmYTStop, he won last year without a great supporting cast on offense.. I’m a ravens fan and that chiefs team was the closest I felt to Mahomes having a lack of weapons similar to how Lamar had his career and he won and shut me up lol..
@@airgasmYTGarbage take. Chiefs O line lost 4 starters and the backups were playing different positions than they play. But the biggest issue with your take is that no QB has ever won a thing without a supporting cast.
The mahomes vs Brady head to head always feels like a backwards argument. It creates the idea that for Mahomes to be the goat it would have been better for him to beat Brady in the Super Bowl but then lose one to purdy or Jimmy g. Seems the best way to lose a Super Bowl is probably losing to TB 12.
I think it’s stating the fact that for some people you have to beat inferior competition but then beat Brady as well, it’s all encompassing not one or the other.
it's so obviously hypocritical. They say that head to head is the be all end all even if Mahomes outplayed Brady with an inferior team, but don't acknowledge the fact that Brady lost in the playoffs to guys like Mark Sanchez, Nick Foles, Jake Plummer, Ryan Tannehill, Joe Flacco, and Eli Manning. The funny thing is most Patriots fans (at least the ones spouting off on social media) have abandoned Bill and Gronk for the sake of the Mahomes < Brady argument. Bill is better than Andy, and Gronk is better than Kelce, but when it comes to the Brady vs. Mahomes argument, their entire narrative changes. All the sudden Bill sucks, Gronk sucks, etc.
Only occasionally do I find him annoying when he’s making takes or bets based on personal bias. His T Law obsession was a little annoying and his Bears SB pick is because it’s obviously just staking his claim as the Caleb Williams guy
It's just $6 for 15 different channels/apps. Don't act like we're cheap. We went from $200 directv to $190 individual bs apps monthly. I don't disagree on much of your stuff, but that was a rich person statement.
24:00 . personally I think sharing passwords is good for subscription models. It’s kinda like the F2P games business model. You get a lot of “moochers” but they’re very low cost and it gets other people to pay and engage with your product
My comment from earlier, that I'll just add to yours...It's just $6 for 15 different channels/apps. Don't act like we're cheap. We went from $200 directv monthly to $190 individual bs apps monthly. I don't disagree on much of your stuff, but that was a rich person statement.
The argument for Mahomes is if you heavily weigh peak vs longevity. Or if you consider the GOAT as the one player you'd want to win a single game (or even a single season). Obviously, for a total career, Brady had a better accumulation of stats and accolades, but that isn't even apples to apples. It's not out of the question for 7% of people to pick Mahomes as the better single game (or single season) option.
Hey Nick! I notice you rocking Amsterdam based brands a lot, can you maybe explain in the next episode how that started? Btw I am from Amsterdam and big Mahomes fan🔥🔥
Bill Russel 3peated 6 times and there have been 5 teams that have 3peated in the NBA vs none that have in football. Basically football, usually less than 7 scores per team per game and one game playoffs are so much more variable than 50+ scores per team over 7 games that a football team has to be insanely better for those 3 years to have any chance at it vs a basketball team just needing to be marginally the best to have a really good chance.
@@demarbutler4833 it's been done in basketball. Makes it a liiitle bit different in the context of a league that's had other teams 3 peat and also an 8 peat
@DanileSawn if Bill Russell is the grounds for your argument then cool have at it 😂😂😂...in modern nba 3peating 2x has happened ONCE...I'll it again...TWO 3 PEATS LOL
Its so weird to me that Nick can see the difference between GOAT and BOAT when it comes to Brady-Mahomes, but cant see it when it comes to James-Jordan. James is the BOAT and Jordan is the GOAT
that's your opinion, but Jordan is the BOAT AND the GOAT. Brady is the GOAT, Mahomes is the BOAT, but not for much longer. Mahomes is coming for them both. Just because Lebron is a physical freak of nature, doesn't mean his skillset is other worldly. Eye test will tell you everything you need to know when it comes to Mahomes and Jordan.
When you put up someones resume side by side, it takes an incredible leap to say well this person is better than the more accomplished one. Especially when everything mahomes has accomplished, Brady has also accomplished. The man has more championships and appearances than any franchise,
The funny thing is, when you put them side by side, it's literally not even close lol. Out of comp %, YPG, TD per game, INT's per game, Y/A, Rating, Rush yards per game, Rush YPA, Rush TD per game, GWD per game, AV, Win %, TD/INT, and all those same categories again in the playoffs, Mahomes beats Brady 23-1-1. Brady gets worse in the playoffs in 9 of those categories, improves in three. Mahomes improves in 10 of those categories, worse in 2. Brady has a 2.2 TD/INT ratio in the playoffs. Mahomes has a 5.13. The gap is literally enormous. He doesn't need to win 7-8, just as Jordan didn't need to win 11-12.
I would love nick to do a list of qbs that have earned the right to not get blamed for losses. Mahomes gets all the credit when he wins and none of the blame when he loses, as the same with Brady and many of the other greats. Who else has earned that right or is it none?
I've always thought the GOAT vs BOAT distinction is useful. To me Bill Russell will always be the basketball GOAT. Too much dominance (11 rings in 13 seasons 2 as a player/head coach.) And the fact that he did it all with such grace, and dignity, and class despite the constant hatred from Boston. He did as much for race relations as anyone in this country aside from literally like MLK and Jackie Robinson. But if people want to say he played in an era with no parity, too many HOF teammates, and a second whole league he never faced who's history was erased and Michael or LeBron are better, more advanced players and one of those two (or Wilt or Kareem or someone) is actually the BOAT over Bill I won't waste breath arguing.
Was anyone else’s only takeaway from the bill simmons story “oh! Bill simmons must listen to the pod”? Since Nick always talks about being aggregated by the random twitter accounts
To be fair to Brady, he did it all with Bill as his coach who we all know never won without Tom and then he also won at Tampa with a coach who never won. Mahomes has the great estate offensive coach of all time and perhaps the greatest coach of all time as he has had tremendous success with even average QB play.
Without Mahomes, is anyone putting Andy at the top of the all time heap?? 🙄 he's a great coach , but you're hedging because we know that it's a real possibility Pat is surpassing Brady 🤨
@@closeredge5198 I think without Mahomes he is top five. Without Brady, is Bill even in the top 25? I totally agree that when it's all said and done there is a very high chance that Mahomes is the goat.
@@independentmind85 Bill had a top 10 defense every year that Brady won the super bowl. (most times top 5) If Patrick could afford to have 4 3INT games in the playoffs and win 3 of them... Traditionally, if Patrick turns the ball over twice in the playoffs, the Chiefs lose. Brady didn't have that burden to bear. Not taking anything away from Brady's greatness, but up until last year Patrick didn't have the luxury of having a great defense throughout the playoffs.
@@airgasmYT I think you missed the Nick's point. Brady might be the GOAT but through his entire career he wasn't the uncontested best quarterback in the game.
@@kikthepow Did you actually here the point that Nick made? In the first part of Brady's career, there was a debate about who the best quarterback was, Manning or Brady. At the end of Brady's career the debate was Brady/Rogers.
why does no one bring up that Andy reids kid drunk drove into car critically injuring a child right before the superbowl making the whole game vs the buccaneers tainted with sadness and stress. Like let's be real, as a chiefs fan, I didn't feel great about that game after that incident... and no one brings up that context. worst chiefs game ever with mahomes.... the mojo was just off
Patrick threw for 50 TDs and 5,000 yards in his first season. A feat only 2 other QBs have ever done in a single season. There’s levels to this bro and comparing the two is an insult to Mahomes and a disservice to Purdy. Pick another comp.
@@tylerbeller8145 You’re proving my point bro. Yeah Pat was super successful super early and noone ever says “Oh it was because he was on a loaded team” which he absolutely was. He had a top 3 all time coach, a top 2 all time TE, a top 10 all time WR. I’m not saying Purdy is Mahommes that would be stupid but you’re missing the point. The point is they were both drafted to loaded teams and both had success early but for one guy it’s the coach and the team and for the other it’s his brilliance even though he has a comparable team and a better coach.
No Nick, people will never forget he loss to Brady twice while Brady was in his 40s.. that will be the narrative you try to paint, already getting a head start on that I see but it won’t work 😂 that will never be forgotten 💯
Mahomes is just what Rodgers was supposed to be. Rodgers was clearly a better QB than Brady ever was but didn’t always have the same fortune. Mahomes is having the success of Brady while clearly being better than him. In my opinion he’s already the goat but that is because for me most of the argument for being the goat is were you the best to ever play your sport? Mahomes is and Brady isn’t.
@@zakr8951Accuracy/ pocket presence/pocket feet/ reading a defense/QB sneak/Brady had a canon for a arm and was a great deep ball thrower not quite Mahomes arm strength but close I would say the only thing Mahomes does “better” is throw on the run and scramble
Not quite. They played in SBI lost ('66) and won in '69 But yeah Nick is technically wrong. Would be 49 years from Mahomes' first year and 48 years from Mahomes being drafted.
The mahomes is the goat the same way Michael Jordan is the goat, he didn't win as many as Russell but look at the stats watch the film and try to tell me Patrick mahomes isn't the greatest thing I we've ever seen
Pretty funny nicks argument to excuse Brady beating mahomes is that he was at his best at age 43 which even more strongly solidifies that Brady is the goat 🤣
Let’s just say it how it is Brady beating Mahomes won’t matter It’s an idiotic argument Eli beat Tom in 2 out of 2 superbowls that doesn’t make Eli even 1/100th as good as Brady it’s a team sport and in the end of the day Mahomes will have the best eye test ever the best numbers ever witch he already has and he’ll be the most winning player ever I genuinely have full confidence Mahomes ends his career with at least 6 rings at this point i really wouldn’t be surprised if he wins 10 superbowls the guy is the best player ever it’s so ovbs just watch him and Brady play it’s not even close it’s like how 09 LBJ looks like a god compared to the play in the 90s and all the numbers will support it Mahomes has the best stats per game ever and the highest winning percentage ever
@@mikewaters4363 it doesn’t matter whoever the better player is isn’t decided by 2 head to head match ups when neither player was in there prime when the players in the sport don’t even play half the game 💀it’s laughable that y’all even think this is a viable argument is Burrow better then Mahomes is Eli better then Brady ?
“I don’t throw things out for attention and my hottest takes are always right!” This is the guy that TATTOOED “Never A Doubt” on his arm when predicting the Chiefs to go 20-0 last season.
@@keysersoze3962 right, but the main point of the prediction is not the 17-0 regular season, it was that 3-0 in the playoffs, which ended up being 4-0 anyways, cope if you have to ig
Pre-snap and post-snap Brady is light years beyond Mahomes.Brady was groom through Spygate, Mahomes came into the league as a one read QB.He couldn't read defenses like that for his first 3-4 years in the league. Mahomes was getting away with it because Andy Reid was calling master classes game plans to the first read wide open.
Mahomes winning 3 in a row would be worth the equivalent of 5 Superbowls in my mind ....almost like LeBron winning 3 straight after being down 3 to 1 to the Warriors. That chip is worth at least 2 in career value. Legendary. 🙏🏽 Ps, Mahomes will not have to get to 7 to be the GOAT when it is all said and done.
