the opening being there actually made much more sense to me after i read the lyrics, it's about how tokyo is in shambles, and how the singer enjoys the chaos...maybe they intended it to be from sukuna's perspective in a weird way

ngl i liked the vibe of the opening line for that scene. when it plays in the intro sequence a bunch of the characters are walking listlessly and makes the line feel “hollow”, which seems like it’d fit how yuji would feel

It's all about Sukuna tormenting Yuji. It's a different form Nanami and Kugisaki's death where the vibe is "Sad". Here Sukuna is 100% laughing his ass off while Yuji is crying his eyes out.

"Specialz" during Yuji's breakdown fits very good, because the lyrics represent sukuna and the special cursed site. It just shows that the "bad guys" won and that Sukuna just bullied Itadori in this moment... 100% disrespect but I love it :D

The whole time? Nah. Most of the time Sukuna wasn’t taking it seriously, but towards the end Sukuna started having to actually put in effort because Mahoraga was catching up with him. If I remember correctly Sukuna even said that if he was any weaker he would’ve lost.

A really simple breakdown of Mahoraga's (since it's not as well explained here as in the manga) ability is adaptation. Once it experiences something either enough or long enough it will no longer be affected by that thing. A good example is the underwater scene, after it had been underwater for a few moments, it developed gills. In the case of Sukuna's technique, Mahoraga was adapting to the concept of slicing in general, so both of Sukuna's types of slicing were getting less and less effective. The only way to 'kill' Mahoraga is to one-shot it before it can adapt, which is why Sukuna had to use Fuga again. Bt that point, Sukuna's domain was doing nearly no damage.

OOOOOOOOOH IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE also one of the animators for this episode came out on twitter and told us that this episode was only about 30% of what they wanted to make it, but the studio forced the deadline and they had to polish what they had and release it before they could finish it to their liking. i hope one day we get to see the complete, fully polished version but i highly doubt it. either way, regardless of how much of it they ended up finishing it was still absolute insanity to watch and i loved every single second of it
