@@phosphoros9107 The maids of Nijiura were communal net characters created on Nijiura. Nijiura is also known as 2chan, 2ch, or the Japanese 4chan. It’s actually the website that inspired Moot to create 4chan. Anyways, these characters then inspired a group of indie musicians to assume the identities of the maids for their music, creating the Maidcore microgenre. Not to be confused with Maidcore, the aesthetic based on maid fashion. Maidcore isn’t insomuch a genre, but a catchall term for any music made by the “maids”.

@@redcatofdeath Always glad to help out newbies. ^^ Well every maid dabbles in several subgenre's, with quite a bit of overlap. The unifying elements is that it tends to always be electronic music, with some rock and metal touches, and usually has a depressive atmosphere to it. Which is quite fitting to the original characters.

late to reply, but "maidcore" refers to music created by the maids of nijiura/2chan. the maids came up as a sort of mascot/cute maid idea, and some people created more or adopted their identities, making music under those names, and thus creating the category of "maidcore". been navigating the rabbit hole since last night.

I love music like this so ethereal sounding I think that this maidcore is a sub of shoegaze. It has the long and stretched out ethereal sound of the electric guitars the difference is that it leans to heavy metal sounds.

'The Nijiura Maids are net characters created on japanese imageboard Futaba Channel's Nijiura boards. The first maid, Medoi-san, was created in 2004. They were created out of one anon's thought of having a cute maid. Each maids' name is a pun, reflecting their personality. Because the maids originated on an anonymous board, there is no 'official' content, and their creators are unknown. It is difficult to find information about some maids.' Thats from the nijiura maid wiki. Looks like maidcore is just the fanmusic for these characters.

I am glad that youtube recommend me this video. It gave me nostalgic feeling. I was big fan of this maid-is stuff back in 2012-2014. But life goes forward, my tastes changed, etc. Not the music that I would start listening in 2023 but it gave me warm feeling. Thanks.
