We're back, with a new boat!
While the 17 Ft Seaswirl Striper was a perfectly good boat, and could handle everything I threw at it (5 ft swells, 20 knot wind fishing days, 700+ lb marlin, Ahi and countless other fish...), the opportunity for a slightly larger boat presented itself, so I decided to pull the trigger on this beaut... a 19 Ft Glasspro.
Glasspros are made locally in Hawaii by Ben Rowe (@Plastech_ltd), and are well known for their sturdy, wide build, which makes them great for bottom fishing and offshore fishing. They are known to have more of a "rougher" ride while trolling compared to other deep V hulls, but that can easily be mitigated by adding in some modifications to make the ride a bit more comfortable.
In this video, I do a quick test ride out the channel and straight to the sandbar. We then test the boat on one of the roughest days out yet, with winds up to 25 knots and 5-6 ft swell. It was a wet ride, but she definitely handled and felt much safer than 'Small Kine'. We also got the deck bloody and blessed the boat with her first few fish! Stay tuned for more adventures soon to come, with modification videos as I build this boat to be the ultimate family/fishing boat!
