Peavey Electronics set the standard for affordable, feature-packed powered P.A. solutions more than four decades ago. The new Peavey PVX Series of active and passive loudspeakers are the culmination of decades of R&D and experience building the best portable, all-in-one audio solutions--bringing legendary Peavey performance and reliability to audio pros and musicians of all levels.
The PVXp Sub from Peavey features an ultra-reliable power section that provides a total of 800 watts of peak available power with DDT compression. This powered enclosure also features a 15" heavy-duty woofer with a 3" voice coil. The PVXp Sub provides a balanced input via a combination jack that accepts balanced TRS 1/4" input as well as a balanced XLR input. There are two balanced thru high pass XLR outputs, and a Full-Range XLR output. There is an adjustable Level control, as well as a combination LED indicator, that illuminates when power is on and when the "soft-limiting" DDT circuit is activated.
Peavey PVXp Sub is housed in a durable enclosure that includes a pole mount for additional PVX speakers, a black powder-coated steel grille provides driver protection and a clean, professional appearance.

A common mistake people make is to think that 15's on top of either 15' subs or 18" subs is good, but the fact is that a smaller high quality/high powered speaker like a 10" or 12" is much better cause you get those nice mid and mid bass frequencies + once you use the cross over from the sub at say 100-120hz you lose a lot of the power you have in the woofer of a 15". I've learnt this from many 15" speakers i've had including an excellent pair of 15" FBT VERVE's which kicked hard but would have been more suited to small venues when only a pair of speakers were needed , now having said all this if you have a high powered 15"with a large horn voice coil like 3" then that would work well, but i'm speaking of the more common 1.4 inch voice coil speakers that smaller acts and DJ's use. I now use a pair of Presonus 328AI's and have so much more headroom than i did with the 15" speakers i've had, you don't have to push the eq up as much on the smaller 8" drivers in the 328"s i've also tried it on Yamaha DXR15's which are normally quite loud on their own but found they lost a fair bit when crossed over with a sub.

Bi Directional USB means you can plug a laptop into it to play sounds over the usb and also record the audio going to the speaker

Barr, I saw your demo/review on the pocket spots and went out the next day and purchased a set. I also purchased JBL's as well. Your opinion of equipment is VERY important so don't be influenced by the FREE gifts or feel obligated to give a GOOD review. Please keep it 100. If they are awful, LET US KNOW...

JBL is my all time fav, but would definitely rock those, especially at that price. Peavey makes some of the best speakers on the market and they truly hooked you up on this one. Can't wait to see what you think of them in the wild as well as how the mixer works for you. Great for you BAR!

Peavey stepping up their game. The hard part is you won’t really know until you have them out to a few gigs and you can really test the sound and reliability.

I have this setup. Peavey makes good stuff and they sound clean as hell. With the PV EQ. Woooo. The sound on these things are amazing with eq and a good compressor.

That’s awesome there’s nothing wrong with PV my uncle use that gear for years Way back in 1971 it’s good stuff nothing wrong with it Still to this day and still probably one of the most powerful AMPs in the industry Is the good old CS 800 solid amplifier and still today will give a lot of new amps a good run for their money but weighed a ton but solid amplifier Good for you bar that’s awesome

Hi Barr, when I DJ'd in the 80's and 90's I used Peavy's for about 80% of that time and never had one problem with them. Congratulations! By the way, I still have them. Waiting to see if my daughter (DJ Pandie) will ever use them. Stay Reel!

I have the tops and saving to upgrade my subs with pvx subs . I do small and med size gigs. Can't wait for a gig log to see what you think. Too much kosmos can muddy bass on some songs.

The old Peavey subs were good for bands not djs. They only had 50hz so the bass wasn't too deep. Those new models I don't know yet because in recording the sound is different. Only when I hear them live I may like it or still not. Thanks for video Barr.

Peavey is very iconic company born in 1965.. I only 1 set of speakers in my life and loved them . I believe it was the p10 series don't remember for sure it was about 11 years ago.. If I wasn't so broke I would love to own another set of peavey powered speakers.. Like your blogs keep up the good work..

Great that Peavey is still in the Pro audio market! They have always made very robust equipment that was made in the US in Mississippi. Do they come in white also? I need a white set and will strongly consider Peavey!

I have 2 of the PVXp 15 tops and no subs and everyone tells me that they are crisp and clean sound and the have very great low end as well. I was never really a Peavy fan until I started being a mobile dj and need a pair of fairly in expensive speakers. Those blew my mind on sound and of course volume. I have gigged in front of 250 people an they hold their own with out any problem. Play them at a moderate volume and work the speakers in. When the woofers are worked a bit from initial break in you will notice them wake up and really start to throw sound far and get very loud, crisp and Clean.

I have the same subs, they do a great job and are very versatile. Shame the tops can't compete with some other 15" models which are putting out 137db and 1500watts rms.

Aolaolagi et al. I'm sorry you guys feel that way. Don't believe everything you see on a "reality" tv show. We tried to keep our US manufacturing going at a large level far longer than any of our competitors. All the folks on the show got what was promised or a mutually agreed deviation. UB did not portray things accurately.

I think it's great that you replied to this comment. I ran across this video while researching speakers to replace my DJ and bar band rig. I think it says a lot when a person in your position takes the time to reply off the cuff in a venue that almost no one would see. As a gigging amateur musician for the last 20 years i've had the opportunity to on multiple occasions to use Peavey gear it was my first bass and bass rig, We use a large Desk mixer to mix at my church that's never been an issue. Peavey has always been dependable gear for the working musician to me. People need to remember that Reality TV is meant to be an entertainment vessel to sell ads, not a serious docu-drama.

Never liked PV. Till I heard a proper setup next to a pair of JBL Eon. PV’s are better for live, put the energy where the music is. The JBL sounds laidback, with lackluster energy. PV’s please

Have you heard the Dark Matter series? Are these an older series than the DM? I missed what size the sub's were but, how did you think these performed at gigs? You said $450 for each of these 15's and the 12's sell for $499. Weird

Great videos! Can you do a video on actual set up time sound check, and cable management? I find myself cutting it close on my setup probably within 15 mins of actual event time. I usually try to go 1-1.5 hrs before the event. Also want to know how you keep your set looking clean (hiding cables and stuff) Thanks! Keep the videos coming!

What kind of system do you recommend for a house party, playing mostly Latin music (Bachata, Salsa, Reggeaton etc..) , I'm looking for an entry level DJ set up with 2 tops and either one or two subs.
