Are Holliday and Mayo going to lose rookie eligibility for 2025 (and potentially an extra draft pick if ROY)? What do you think are the chances Cowser wins it this year?
I think Holliday definitely will lose his. Mayo depends on how long he is up I think. If he ends up raking and stays up long term, he'll lose his also, but if not and he gets sent down in September, he should retain his.
If Cowser stays hot for a bit longer and doesn't fall back to May/June levels when he eventually cools off, I think he has a great shot at winning. Gil for the Yankees is right up there. I think he would have to finish out the season without falling off to stay in the running and my prediction is that he does fade and Cowser wins it.
I like and agree with your 25 lineup, with a bit of a change. I have: Cowser, Holliday, Henderson, Santander (I too would extend him) and Rutschman then O'Hearn. I think Cowser's speed, power, walk ability at the top can be deadly. Holliday with a similar profile at 2, then a retro 3/4/5. Adding Jimenez this year gives more DH options and in theory could give Rutschman more full days off for more rest. Using that same approach next year with this lineup keeps the top four spots pretty stable against rhp. Plus Rutschman gives Santander protection. I get that the trend is to have the best hitters at the top, but this is my wishlist.
Love the mailbag shows and other segments where moves etc are discussed. Please expand include those as much as possible. Being that I watch every game the 5 things on every game, for me are less interesting. Just one daily watcher fans thoughts. Thanks for the show, being retired it starts my morning routine
I think next year's lineup is going to be way more potent than this year. More guys debut this year, and everyone will have more experience next year. The pitching is the big question mark for me next year
@@drewc771 agreed. I was of the opinion that they should let him walk. But I'm starting to believe that if they can lock him up for four years during the exclusive free agent period they should do it. Long term, he'd be a nice fit at 1B
@@scottbryan455 The fan in me absolutely wants to keep Santander, and being a switch-hitter with his power makes him real valuable for sure. I actually think he's become a pretty decent RF, but yeah, 1B/DH are always there. But the other side of it is that he's gonna cost a lot to re-sign and the OI's have prospects ready to jump in that have great potential and much smaller salaries. Might be wiser to save budget for pitching. Under the old regime, there'd be no question that he'd be gone after this year. But it's a bit of a wild card under Rubenstein so early in his ownership.
Bullpens can be remade quickly. Rangers last season was the first post season team to have more blown saves than saves. Daniel Hudson got the last out of the 2019 WS for Nats and he was a deadline pickup that season.
Phillies fan here. I love the Orioles squad and rooting for you guys in the AL but what in the world are you doing with Kimbrel, Siranthony and Soto? Those guys gave me nightmares. Dreadful.
@@drewc771 he’s the one who can actually reemerge. He was dominant in 2022 for us. Lost his control and will dominate a couple guys and then walk two and give up a dinger. I like him so here’s hoping he gets it back.
You are crazy if you think McDermott is on the playoff roster. Akin has the best numbers in the bullpen and they keep screwing with him because they don’t want to pay him. I hope he goes to the Yankees
