I'm a mail carrier for USPS and bust my butt six days a week, making sure everyone gets every letter and package that's addressed to them. On behalf of all of us who actually care and work hard day in and day out, we do not claim this bum.

as a retired letter carrier , 23 years of service , I can tell this happens more than you think . we had a supervisor tell the. janitor to dump a whole lot of free samples into the dumpster . he got fired .

I'm white. My cousin was a mail woman in rural Tennessee. She is now a convicted felon for dumping mail in a ditch.

Mail Carrier here, this guy is most likely is a new hire since he’s still rocking casual clothes on the job because he hasn’t received his allotment. The lady said it’s 7:15pm and the post office employees on overtime should all be gone by around 8:30pm otherwise you start accumulating penalty overtime. Lazy bones here must’ve thought he wouldn’t be able to deliver all his mail and instead of telling his supervisor that he can’t do it, he thought he could just get rid of it all and forget about it by tomorrow. As a mail carrier he swore an oath to the people of the U.S to protect the sanctity of their mail and to always deliver it. It’s a shame he thought he could break that oath and suffer no consequences.

I worked for the post office as a sub, we had a full time lady dumping mail in a ditch. The postal inspector followed her one day a caught her, he gathered everything up took it back. They fired her, but the postal union got her job back. I don’t know how or why she was reinstated, but I’ll say this, the postal union is indeed the best union in the United States.

Classic hood behavior. Guy probably slept in his truck all day and dumped the mail in the garbage.

I hope she called the police and reported him to the post office. Staying quite is the problem. Speak up and bring criminals to justice.

The USPS OIG does not confirm or refute information related to possible ongoing USPS OIG investigations, except in matters where details of the investigation become a matter of public record, said Cerra. I hope they dove into the dumpster, retrieved ALL the mail and indicted him on 1 count of tampering with the US Mail for EACH piece of mail he threw into the dumpsters.

A mail man job is actually a pretty good gig too. They make like 60k a year. Weekends and federal holidays off and they get state benefits and a pension. How damn lazy do you have to be?

As a mailman this is highly illegal and would give years in federal prison, if these were vote in or political mail he is done.

What's crazy is that there are mail carriers still doing this even after having "informed delivery" on the USPS website. It shows people pictures of their mail and day that it's to be delivered smh 🤦🏻‍♀️

Doesn’t matter if it’s junk mail either. Federal agents or whatever they were told us to never be tempted throw it away even though people don’t want it because it’s what makes the post office the most money. It will make your day 2-3 hours longer casing and delivering junk mail. Once a week bundles would be at our case to separate and deliver

Saddest part about this is that a federal USPS employee would dump mail in a dumpster illegally risking serious charges/fines rather than simply not being lazy and delivering the mail. What great quality USPS employees they are hiring!!

My parents deliver the mail. The guy who worked as a sub for the office my mom works at got caught doing this. He didn't throw away personal mail, he threw out flyers and things like that. He got investigated and fired over it

You can tell he's done it before cuz he's comfortable enough not parking his vehicle closer to the dumpster and having less of a walk while he's out in the open.

Amazing. The Manager of the Post Office just brought me 9 bags of Mail that they found of mine this morning. I have found a check and other important papers. They change my lock on my box because they showed me how it was broken. SMH

He's a federal government employee who belongs to a union representing federal employees. He will not be getting fired any time soon. He'll probably end up with a promotion to a higher paying desk job to keep him from doing that again. Failing upwards...the union way.

This has happened before. I think it was Florida. One of the USPS mail carriers, a white man (I think ), parked near a dumpster, spent his shift getting drunk, and then dumped all the mail he was supposed to deliver. The barcodes in the mailboxes (in FL) started after that. The carrier had to start scanning the barcode to prove they delivered that day.

He should get ten years in federal prison.

I'm in Canada. A few years ago a postal worker in a nearby city was investigated because people complained they got no mail on his route. He didn't throw the mail away -- he kept it! There were bags and bags of it in his apartment. Just picked it up from the postal office and drove on home!

I can't give too many details, because it actually made quite large news in Canada - but my previous mail carrier and her daughter (both White) went to prison for years long mail theft. They had an acreage and horse trailers filled with undelivered (not even opened for cheques) mail.

Important stuff still comes by mail. Letters from lawyers, refund checks from insurance companies, etc. I will get an email saying they are sending the letter.
