A lot of people have seen a recent thing calling itself the Main Street Electrical Parade, but for a past generation of Florida kids THIS was the Main Street Electrical Parade. Given that I was standing in a sea of humanity, only having the tripod bumped a couple times isn't bad. This was captured from 20-year-old tape, however, so the image quality is lacking.

This is a wonderful video, not just because you captured the original Walt Disney World version of the parade, but also because you captured the extremely rare closing announcement, done by Jack Wagner. That is very hard to find. In 5 years of being on You Tube, this is only the 2nd video I've seen which has that announcement. I just wish you were able to get the opening announcement. Thank you for posting!

Disney World's Electrical Parade is identical in almost every way to DL's electrical parade...in fact the one at WDW right now IS Disneyland's version.

I recorded the real ELP in 1988. They had an Oliver and company promo float before hand. I recorded it from the top of the train station and it turned out good. I need to find it.

Wow, they changed a lot!!! I never knew they had an it's a small world part!! The time I remember seeing it before last year was back in 1999 I think. I don't think I watched the whole thing then, but I know the blue fairy was still there. Thanks for the upload.

yep both Disneyland an Walt Disney World had "It's A Small World in their versions of the parade. Disneyland removed that section after the '87 season, , hence why, when you saw the parade in '00, it wasn't in it. Since WDW's floats were in Paris at that time both the '99-'01 run and '10-'16 run were Disneyland's floats. Interesting fact, with the exception of the Ballroom & To Honor America floats, everything else in the version in this video was built in California and then shipped to Florida., but that got a bit expensive so, starting with the float for Mickey's 50th Birthday in '78, all float building for Florida's version was done in Florida.

@TheITinFIT WDw never had the Pinnochio or Snow WEhite floats in their origibnal version the closest thing they had was the Pinnocchio Underwater float which ran in Florida until 1984. the Snow White & Pinocchio floats seen in the current version were Disneyland's

Fun fact: with the exception of the Ballroom portion of the Cinderella section and the To Honor America float, everything else was built in California and shipped across the country (after '77, it got too expensive to ship floats across the country, I *IMAGINE* Disney World fitted the bill when they did that in *97 & again in '10) * = following the Hercules premiere in NYC ,the floats were shipped to Orlando, *ORIGINALLY JUST* for refurb, then at some point they asked if they could borrow it.

@disneydanny2 Occasionally we did the reverse Spectro parade as well. Not often but not really for the reason implied. There is a steep hill going to Main Street in order to get floats over the RR tracks, but they still do it. Towing floats is not a huge deal.

@disneydanny2 The original parade ran twice a night and frequently did "Reverse" or Frontierland step-offs for the second performance.

Latest Rumor THESE floats are apparently sitting backstage in Tokyo in crates. THAT sounds mor belevablle than Hong Kong dumping them in the ocean simply because they didn't want them (I doubt Disney would even allow them to be disposed of in that manor. anyhow can anyone here confirm if the Tokyo rumor is the accurate one?

@G2red89 yep and at this point in time WDW was the only U.S. park that still had Small World in the parade (Disneyland retired theirs in '88) Tokyoi also had it but their version had the push floats for that section on a motorized float as well as having aq ferris wheel float that neither California nor Florida had in theirs

yes it was. althogh contrary to what has been stated September 14th was not thi versions last US performance. it was brought out one more time on September 30th for a media event which ironically was also a media preview for Spectro

@echoscot that's interesting. Did they ever do a reverse route for Spectro (If they did I kinda doubt they've done it it that often as I know the reverse route involves a steep incline backstage & the floats have to be towed just to get up it

Agreed with both of you about not using Don's original soundtrack. Don said they changed it to get rid of the one 3/4 measure. But the Greg Smith one just doesn't have the right feel. Sure it works for the lavish and gaudy Tokyo version, but something more primitive and simple like the analog synths of the original baroque hoedown works best for the USA version. Sounds more like a midi file than anything! And Littlescienceguy, I'm always the one that has to clap with the crowds too!

yep, last *PUBLIC* performance for that version in Orlando occurred September 14th 1991, *BUT* they rolled it out 1 more time on September 30th for amedia only event, that night also was the media preview for SpectroMagic as well.

The music sucks but some of the music on the unis sound allot better. The sound quality on the units are much better to. I wish they could use the origional opening music with the new music for the units. As for Disney Worlds electrical parade,... It sucks compared to Disneylands Electrical Parade and Spectromagic.

Disney Worlds origional Electrical Parade didnt have the Coal kart and mine, Peter Pans ship, Pinokio Units and its also missing the 2 Circus ring units that were linked together with the bear in the middle. I will take Pleasure Island and peter pan and the coal mines over the Its a Small World units any day. So your right, they are identical but Disneylands has much more and I will take that parade over Disney Worlds Eletrical Parade any day.

It doesn't feel the same here because it wasn't made for America. It was made for Japan. That's where it should've stayed.

@dodgergurl24 as do i/ even sadder after the parade's run in Parios this parade was entierly scrapped.
