"Its just a silly crossover fighting game with cartoony physics and goofy references." Nobuo Uematsu: "Full orchestra with a mixed choir including opera solos, gotcha."
That’s not even close to what Brawl is. Uematsu produced arguably the greatest composition in video game history because of how grand Brawl truly is. Not because it’s silly whacky.
@@lneedtherapy Yea, Brawl is one of the most unfairly misunderstood games of all time. Once I accepted that it wasn't Melee and wasn't trying to be, I realized that basically every facet of the game, from the music, the presentation, the graphics, subspace emissary, the stage builder, everything, literally everything was obviously meticulously crafted to be one of the finest works of art in fighting/platform fighter game history!
The fact that this is in Latin really shows how much effort they put into a game where you can fight an Italian plumber as a pink ball capable of eating anything
Where you can *use a lightsaber while playing as* a pink ball that can eat anything to *knock an* Italian plumber *into the sky of Skyworld from Kid Icarus while wearing a Link hat.* This series is beautifully ridiculous.
It certainly makes it more dramatic, but I think it was also done as a means to make the song equally unintelligible to just about everyone. By being sung in a dead language, it's just as accessible/inaccessible to everyone in the world. Had it been in Japanese only or English only, it would have felt familiar to some and foreign to others, which probably wasn't what they were aiming for, which might also explain why Ultimate's theme was sung in both Japanese and English.
This would go hard af as a national anthem. Just imagine winning the Olympics and your flag is going up to this song as you stand on top of the podium.
For those who don't know, this was composed by Nobuo Uemsatu who is the main composer of the OSTs of almost every single Final Fantasy game, making some of the most iconic soundtracks in all of gaming. That's why this track is so iconic, because it's literally made by the godfather of some of the best video game soundtracks of all time.
I remember this game really well. Very familiar to me. I first played this game when I was preteen at that time one. Came out in 2008 in Wii console (the very first one) Pure Nostalgia and fond memories of it. Cool fact, it was sung in Latin
Nobuo Uematsu did this . You know ,the guy who made all FF osts from 1 to 10 , largely considered one of the greatest composers of all time, made amazing tracks like dancing mad, One winged angel , Zanarkand, Victory Fanfare , and all while being self taught. It's just a Usual Monday for him.
Jon Candy lmao. 90% of the people that buy nintendo games don’t give an ounce of shit about competitive play. Competitive is literally the ONLY thing melee has going for it.
Lyrics Audi famam illius. Solus in hostes ruit Et patriam servavit. Audi famam illius. Cucurrit quaeque tetigit destruens. Audi famam illius. Audi famam illius. Spes omnibus, mihi quoque. Terror omnibus, mihi quoque. Ille iuxta me. Ille iuxta me. Socii sunt mihi, qui olim viri fortes rivalesque erant. Saeve certando pugnandoque splendor crescit. Translation: Hear the fame of that one Alone he rushed into his enemies and saved his country Hear the fame of that one He ran, destroying everything he touched Hear the fame of that one Hear the fame of that one Hope to everyone, also to me Fear to everyone, also to me That one is near to me That one is near to me They are allies to me Those who were once strong men and rivals And by contesting and fighting fiercely our splendor grows.

What blows me away is that legendary composer, Nobuo Uematsu (who also composed for nearly every Final Fantasy game since the original), was asked to make ONE song for Smash Bros and it turns out to be the best song out of the entire series.
Takes me back to January 25th, 2008. The day the game came out. I got it that day, and I'm glad I did. Super Smash Bros Brawl is one of the greatest video games of all time.
I played this in 2020 when Covid started and I was struggling with depression and anxiety and when I would play this with my cousin it would bring my mood up I love this game and I will never forget how much it impacted my life. RIP Kenichi Okuma you will forever be in our hearts
I still stick to that tbh, I play ad Peach in everything, and recently managed to mod her into New Super Mario Bros Wii. Little old me playing as Peach back here was terrible, but now shes top tier and I'm loving it lmao. Still, it's sad that characters are used solely because pro players find them easiar to win with.
Those were the days. I've been a Kirby main ever since I started playing Smash with Brawl. Actually that's a lie, there was a brief moment at the start where I liked playing Lucario even though I had no idea how to play the game
This has Nobuo Uematsu's thumbprint all over it. Nintendo made the right call hiring him to craft this incredible masterpiece. Only the man behind Final Fantasy's most recognizable tracks could make something so majestic.
Nobuo Uematsu said in an interview that he's lucky to make a living out of composing video games music, but actually we're the lucky ones to have him make the must beautiful pieces of melody one can listen to.
With the Mario Bros. movie having a huge opening, and the Nintendo Cinematic Universe being an absolute possibility at this point, I'd love to hear this in the inevitable Super Smash Bros. movie.
If there’s a Smash Bros movie, that means more Nintendo characters would appear. The movie would be more like an epic crossover like Avengers Endgame than anything else. This would also means more Nintendo movies for other characters
@@teamtaleplayer6907 Yes, and there has already been 3d movies for Sonic and Pikachu, so the most important remaining I would say that are Star Fox, Zelda, Kirby and maybe Samus
One of my fondest memories growing up was getting into arguments with my younger siblings about random shit, and when we were stuck at an impasse we would duke it out on Brawl and whoever won would 'win' the argument... But everytime it happened, we'd get carried away and keep playing until we forgot what we were even arguing about.
Brawl is one of the games I’d put hours into despite remaining abysmal when it came to skills. But I didn’t care, I just kept playing and playing. This theme, I never skipped. Even as a little kid I knew good music when I heard it. I still have my Wii U as well as some games, so whenever I have a lot of free time I’ll take it out, set it up, and bask in the memories and nostalgia.
I walked past the choir room yesterday and they were singing this. Edit: this darn quarantine cancelled the choir concert Edit 2: it's been a year guys. Physical school has been canceled this semester. Let's hope we can sing it next semester. Edit 3: The saddest part about this is that the seniors never got to sing it. Edit 4: it's been 2 years guys. Due to the virus most of our choir concerts were cancelled so we couldn't sing any cool songs. And although we never did end up singing this in concerts, we did practice it quite a lot. I ended up making a lot of friends when I joined the choir so I just wanna thank you guys for encouraging me to join! I graduate soon so we still have one more concert left. Let's hope that we finally get a chance to sing what we really want.
This game made a ton of Nintendo Fans including myself, I didn’t even know who Link was when I got Brawl, and Legend Of Zelda is probably my favorite Nintendo franchise
The Music Arranger of Super Smash Bros Brawl Kenichi Okuma passed away Yesterday in his bed due to Esophageal Cancer. He is also known for sound design for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie (1995) and his work for Pokémon Red/Blue. May he rest his soul as he gifted us the best in our childhood
@@poke-champ4256 yah I know I mean I love the memes myself it’s just that some people when they hear it they associate it with memes instead of the the godly brawl music that it is
Translated from Latin: I've heard legends of that person How he plunged into enemy territory How he saved his homeland I've heard legends of that person How he traveled the breadth of the land, reducing all he touched to rubble I've heard legends of that person I've heard legends of that person Revered by many--I too, revere him Feared by many--I too, fear him Now, that person Stands at my side Now that person stands at my side Now my friends are with me Some of them were once heroes Some, my mortal enemies And as we face each other in battle, locked in combat We shine ever brighter
Ah, the era where the game dev cared about their product and finished them before their release. The era where you didn't have to buy all the DLC for hundreds of bucks only to have a decent content... Truly the peak of gaming.

I translated all of that and this is what I got Listen to his report Only the enemy rushes The country saved Listen to his report which ran touched down Listen to his report Listen to his report Gives hope to all, even me also, A terror to all, even me also, He according to me? He beside me? Members of me He once were powerful and old Fierce fighting pugnandoque The brightness increases
Somehow no other video game music gives me the feeling of nostalgia and happiness that this track does, Heard it in a pointcrow video and immediately got a rush of memories from being a kid. Absolute amazing game series.

When I was 10 my father was invited to a friend's party and he took me to there too. But that was more an adult party and I had nothing to do and no other kid around to play with so that was boring asf for me. Then a woman, neighbor of my dad's friend, saw me annoying my dad to go home and asked If I wanted to play Wii U in her house and she put that game for me to play. Man that was the most incredible thing someone did for me when I was a kid and now with 21 years I never forgot this act of kindness from that woman. Ps: and for the 8h I played the game was incredible
As the music fades so does all the memories of you playing this game, a time just before the last time your friends all came over on their bikes to play smash. Now they come in their own cars or don't come at all.
If you can have me remember all the details of the opening sequence as I listen to this song, then you just made a masterpiece and a core memory for a man now.

@@absol881 which makes sense since the game was on the Wii which was geared more towards casual audiences. Not to say that it didn't have more hardcore games, but that's not really what it was known for.
