I'm so sorry for the survivors, and for those who lost loved ones.

That little girl, wow she's taking this really well and I'm sure it's credit to mom. I hope that she gets the counseling that she needs because I think when she really realizes what happened, it's going to hit hard.

This is beyond sad. My circle lost two beautiful girls in the Orlando massacre back in 2016, We can totally relate to what the people of Maine are going through right now and we are totally feeling your pain and desperation. May God's strength be with you all and pray hard this man us caught soon 🙏

Absolutely heartbreaking. This horrendous assault has devastated so many people's lives. I use to work with Tricia at a Distribution Center in Lewiston, she was a happy beautiful woman. My sons youth bowling instructor was murdered and his wife shot too. We don't the status of her. I can't comprehend why this could happen. My heart and prayers go out to all.

I'm a Canadian, and we've had our share of these shootings, but I feel like in the US (I love you guys) I worry that it's going to get to the point where every single American is going to have a personal tie to one of these atrocities.

The family contacted police and the army MULTIPLE times about this man’s deteriorating mental health. He had told them he was hearing voices telling him to harm himself and others. It was well known by the army, his family and police. This whole ordeal could have been EASILY prevented. Tragic

Crazy times we live in. I’m only 24 years old but when I was a kid this was almost un heard of 😢

No one should have to feel like this in America. It’s wild. We also need better help for our veterans. Mentally they go through and have been through a lot. I feel like the system failed the shooter as well. I pray for all the victims and their families 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🥹🥹

Those poor precious babies, they are not supposed to see trauma like this. RIP all who perished, and our country needs to fix our priorities.

This could've been any of us. And at the rate and ways these things are continuing I wouldn't be surprised if someone who comments on this video or views it will in the future be subjected to a shooting like this. God forbid of course. I send my condolences to the families and may God keep us all.

If I know someone is dangerous…there has to be a better way to get these ppl into somewhere that can help them or at least house them safely for themselves and loved ones…it’s a fine line tho cuz we don’t want ppl being held that r unfounded…but we need to do something. Mental health related violence needs to be stopped…esp when u know the person has violent tendencies, hears voices etc…

The little girl doesn't understand that it's a mental illness, she's like why would someone do this? that's very sad, the country seriously needs to address the mental health crisis in this country.

Mental illness is not a uniquely American issue. There are mentally ill people all around the world. These mass shootings, however, ARE a uniquely American issue. Why AR-15s are available to citizens I have no idea. Don’t argue with me.

I work with veterans and active duty members in healthcare, and I can say with 💯 honesty, VA mental healthcare absolutely SUCKS!!!

It is clear that the hospital that he was admitted to did not do their job and should be thoroughly investigated and charged. One of the first things that should have been done was to check the firearms register and reach out to his next of kin to see if he had access to firearms. In the military you can’t just walk in and take weapons. They are not only secure but guarded and there are various logs and personnel you have to through command chain to get them. You must be scheduled down range where there are additional range officers that you also must log in with. So that being an avenue for weapons makes absolutely no logical sense. He would have to go through several people and as I said there is monitoring at each point, you don’t just walk in and take a weapon. The elephant in the room is mental health professionals and the fact that we need to reopen mental health facilities. Not everyone is safe to be on the streets. Often when your admitted they put you on psychotropic drugs then put you back on the streets. They did this with my ex and he killed himself. This happens quite frequently and we have to start holding mental health facilities and big pharma accountable. . Over medicating people and sending the criminally insane out into the streets instead of in house treatment has become an ongoing problem. Every mass shooting was a criminally insane or heavily medicated person. Criminal do not obey the law by definition. They will use a gun, a knife, battery acid, a bow. The issue is not being addressed which is we need more mental health institutions like we had in the 50s when communities were safe.

I dont know what to say. My heart and prayers to all the innocent poor famalies. . Th esaddest is seeing these adorable little kids talking about if they didnt know if they were going to live or die. Now these poor little angels have to live with this for the rest of their lives.

People who let this mans mental issues slide/him have guns should be charged or at least lose their positions of authority. The fact the man threatened to shoot up the military base he worked at and still kept his guns is insane and one of the issues that must be addressed. Maybe if people start losing their jobs or getting charged with negligence we will see these issues get addressed.

When this all started, some folks were saying other shooters were arrested, but they only disclosed details on Card since he's on the run. Is this true? Were there multiple shooters or did he go from one location to another before disappearing?

CNN were interviewing one of the victims fathers, and a few seconds after he started to give his response, they cut him off and went to the commercials. If THAT doesn’t tell you how mass killings are percieved in the US, i don’t know what does. Commercials are more important than human feelings and loss it seems.

I am so sick of these shootings. How did this guy obtain a gun if he had mental problems? Our country is becoming so unsafe.

He was hospitalized for hearing voices in his head and yet was able to own a full assault automatic rifle??? We won't give people with bad eyesight a driver's license, but we'd sell guns to psych patients! 😮 The poor families.
