On January 10, 2024, the coast of Maine was hammered by one of the biggest storms in living memory. Many coastal areas were flooded by storm surge, roads washed out, buildings along the waterfront literally collapsed into the sea, and I paid a visit to the Ocean Path on Acadia National Park's "Park Loop Road" to see what kind of devastation this storm would have on a few of the most popular national park locations in America: Otter Cliffs, Thunder Hole, and Sand Beech. You will see a large wooden structure lying on Sand Beech toward the end of the video. This is the wreckage of the schooner "Tay" that, until this very storm, was buried under several feet of sand. As you can see from my footage, sometime before I arrived, however, an enormous amount of sand had been washed back into the sea. Until now, the wreckage has not been seen for several generations. I believe this is the first video footage of the shipwreck in at least several decades, maybe ever.
